Well it is that time now children, a new Bioshock sequel is lifting its head into the air (quite literally) and will be amongst us within the year. As a major fan of the first game, I cannot tell you how excited I am for this.
Last year's Bioshock 2 was made by a different design team than the original game, which probably explains why it lacked the same excitement as the original. But Bioshock: Infinite is from the same team who brought us the beautiful anomaly that was the first game. I think it's safe to say that this game will most likely be a major success.
The first game took place at the bottom of the ocean in a flawed/ruined utopian society named Rapture, loosely based off of Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged." The setting was a very large part of the game and was partially responsible for the incredible impact Bioshock had on the gaming world. The characters had a similar impact as well.
Bioshock: Infinite seems to be following the same path as its older brother. Judging from the gameplay trailer above, it looks as if it might even be better. The setting for this game lies in a floating city that has a similar purpose to Rapture from the first game (a privileged society only offered to the most distinguished members of the world).
By the looks of this trailer, it seems that the non-player characters and yourself will also have the advantage of plasmids, which will let you do ridiculously outlandish things, like shock people or swarm them with flocks of birds of bees. I am actually really excited about this part, I can't wait to see what new plasmid powers they didn't show in the trailer.
I think the most exciting part, besides the massively in-depth story and plasmids will be the fights with the "Big Daddy's." Towards the end of this trailer you see one and he is completely different from the ones in the prior game. He has a face and looks like a classic street boxer. I can't wait to hear about their purpose and their story and of course, to fight them.
I think Bioshock: Infinite is going to set an example for gaming. The last one did and there is no reason for this one not to as well. There is still a lot of mystery with this new game and I think we are all going to fall in love with its intensity.
I played 1 and 2....and the fact of the matter is (to me anyway) no Bioshock that will be made will have the impact as the original. This is true for almost every game ever made that has a sequel...but that is usually because all originality is gone (its a sequel, duh).
For Bioshock, I only see a change of environment and new way of advertising like a madman. Infinite looks promising, possibly a game of the year, but when it comes to ratings and reviews...sub-par. The only thing that will shoot this up to Bioshock 1 levels, would be story/plot. If it is as dynamic, then the rest of the game won't have trouble. I have hope, just not high hopes.
Sort of. I'm not sure an in-the-sky game will give me the same satisfaction that Rapture did. I loved the first 2 games. I hope that this one will be equally as good. I really liked bioshock 2 as well, I didn't see too much wrong with it comparitively, in fact, I did like some things better.
