Fans of roleplaying games unite! It seems Bethesda Softworks has done it again: 'it' being the creation of yet another mind-blowing Elder Scrolls title. Their penchant for creating rich, detailed worlds and coupling it with epic storylines seems to be perfectly intact, if this trailer is to be believed.
Elder Scrolls games are known for pulling players completely into their world, and if the footage from this trailer is any indication, Skyrim will be not only another stunning technical achievement, but a place where many of us RPG fans will be spending a whole lot of time.
It's difficult to formulate any solid opinions about the game based on the trailer, but at the very least it gives us something to salivate about until 11.11.11 when the game is released.
Still, there's a lot in there to be excited about. Many people will say that graphics aren't an issue so long as the game play is good, and while I agree, the difference between Oblivion and Skyrim's visuals is stunning. Oblivion's lush environments seemed nearly photorealistic back in 2006, but now it seems that later this year we'll be stalking virtual prey in forests that blur that line even further.
I also couldn't forgive myself if I didn't mention the music. Jeremy Soule has a real knack for creating epic themes, and this is no exception. In fact, I think this iteration of the Elder Scrolls theme may be my favorite so far. It's much less somber than Morrowind's, and even more intense than Oblivion's.
Let's also keep our fingers crossed that Bethesda puts as much detail (or more) into the world as they did with Morrowind and Oblivion. Stopping to read a book, exploring ever nook and cranny, talking to each and every inhabitant - it all contributed to what made those games the breathtaking experiences that they were.
They haven't let us down yet, so my hopes are high.
I AM SO GODDAMN EXCITED YOU HAVE NO IDEA. I'm serious. I can't wait.
Oblivion was fantastic (the first play around, anyway). Really hope this game'll be as good as its predecessors.
F**K. YES. 'Nuff said.
What a surprise that this game looks exactly the same as the last 2 in the series.
I only hope they don't dumb down the skill/equipment system again (like they did from Morrowind->Oblivion)..
i have to embarrassingly admit i did drool alittle when i watched the trailer for the first time! i can not wait! *as im bouncing around in my chair* its gonna be epic!
Oh yes! I'm ready to give up my rl to clock up over 300 hours like I did on Oblivion, and I'm ready NOW!
It's okay. Though I'll be happy if they make a fallout game with that new pretty engine =D
