Would You Like a McWedding With Your Order?
Is your significant other bugging you about when the two of you will be getting married? Do you think that weddings are just too much of a hassle, especially since a typical wedding can easily run up a bill between $20,000 to 30,000?
Well if you are planning on getting married, or know someone who is, I have the solution for you!
Why not try the new McWedding? Simply fly to Hong Kong (since the McWeddings are currently not offered in the United States) and voila! You will have your very own McDonald's "Warm and Sweet Wedding Package". It includes weddings gifts, pink invitation cards emblazoned with what else, golden arches, and Ronald McDonald and Hamburglar decor. All of this can be yours for the very low price of $1,282.
The McWedding also offers extra items, at an extra cost of course. A "white balloon" gown rental costs $165, a balloon corsage costs $11, a balloon wedding cake costs $88, and a large pink McDonald’s backdrop costs $321.
C'mon, what’s a McWedding without the McDonalds backdrop?!
So far, there are two McWedding parties confirmed in Honk Kong and about 70 other couples are considering it according to Reuters. They also report that McDonald's is hoping that their new McWeddings will take off at a time of economic trouble, especially since traditional Chinese weddings and banquets often impose a huge financial burden on young couples.
On Valentine's Day in Hong Kong, a young couple, Kelvin Kwong and Ashley Tse, had their engagement party at McDonalds. The fast food joint was decked out with pink balloons, a "cake" stacked with apple pies, and there was also a pair of tiny souvenir crystal “M” rings.
On February 12th, there was also a couple in Bristol, U.K. who had their reception at a local KFC. Finger-licking good!Gareth Pritchard and Kalli Buchan had a feast with their guests with about $320 worth of chicken and fries. The bride’s parents had gotten married at a McDonalds in Bristol in 1989, and the newlywed couple wanted to carry on the fast food tradition.
Would you ever consider getting married at a fast food spot? If McDonald’s started offering the McWedding in the U.S., do you think that it will catch on?
