AT&T's Competition: Introducing the Verizon iPhone

Since the announcement of the February 10th release of the much-coveted Verizon IPhone, both AT&T and Verizon have been battling with T.V. and radio spots.
Verizon is working the “less dropped calls” angle and AT&T is running with the “surf while you talk option”. But which cellular provider has the edge?
When the iPhone was released in June of 2007, it went beyond everyone’s expectation. Not that anyone knew what to expect. But since then, the Google behemoth and Microsoft have produced a wide array of super-intelligent phones that make the iPhone look stone aged.
But the iPhone has set the standard and right now no matter how much better other phones’ technology has been, the iPhone's staying power is its best asset.
So which would you prefer:
AT&T: A network that allows you to surf the web (which comes in very handy) while on a call?
Or Verizon: A network that is the largest network in the country and would not have many dropped calls, but doesn't allow any of the phone's other functionalities to work while in a call?
Some folks want a phone that works best as a phone so yes, Verizon would be the better option, but that fact is just based on market share. Verizon is a bigger company with more customers so it has more satellites hence less dropped calls. But after the technology that the AT&T iPhone has given to the public it seems like going back to “Hey, let me check when the movie starts and I’ll call you back,” is a tad outdated. So based on their capabilities, which would you prefer the Verizon/AT&T iPhone and why?

I have a Verizon Droid so I really am not interested in the iPhone for verizon, but if I had to choose between the AT&T version and the iPhone version I'd still choose verizon. What's the point of being able to surf the net during calls when AT&T's calls tend to drop anyway.
i refuse to ever go back to Verizon. they have terrible customer service, and i couldn't even get a signal inside my own house.
i have the AT&T iPhone and i've never had a problem. the only places i don't get a signal are in places where no one else seems to, either. and pretty much everyone i know has AT&T too, so i never use any of my minutes.
I'd go with Verizon's. The fact that you can't use data during calls does suck though. I've had T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint because of where I work, and I'm confident in saying that Verizon feels the most solid to me. Data wise, it's more reliable in more places. Voice wise, it's also more reliable in more places. I travel everywhere and it's given me the fewest problems. When it comes to customer service, all carriers are good/shitty to me.
I prefer a phone that is just a phone.
Why would you want to surf the net while on the phone? Unless, I guess, you wanted to look something up, but how often does that really happen?
Oh, and I use Verizon over AT&T because they charge outrageous rates to deployed soldiers. My husband and I have already paid them more than enough money.
My boyfriend just got his iPhone on Verizon yesterday. So far, he's had issues with the volume and with the calls dropping. I bought mine on AT&T a few weeks ago and had to have it replaced by Apple because the speakers don't work.
I have HEARD that Verizon will have just as many dropped calls due to the high volume of people that will now be on the iPhone. But I can't verify. I like having the ability to look up something or use other apps while on the phone. It's very convenient. However, AT&T doesn't offer REAL insurance on the iPhone, they just offer Apple Care. My boyfriend says that he has insurance on the phone for an extra few dollars a month. Also, AT&T doesn't have unlimited data plans, and my boyfriend says he pays $10 extra than what I do for unlimited data. I don't know if any of these features are for sure, but if they are, I am so jealous. Apple Care isn't even really worth it because it doesn't cover the phone if it is lost or water damaged. Kind of stupid.
i have the at&t iphone. the dropped calls thing isn't THAT big of an issue. what is an issue is the lack of signal in certain areas..like I have service in a living room, but not a bedroom adjacent to it. -_-
verizon is more expensive and one of the best things about the phone is multi-tasking so why would i spend all this money just to have a regular phone.
AT&T has better 3G, and none of the cell companies actually have 4G technology yet - that's a scam.
The only advantage Verizon has is less dropped calls, but even that might not hold true since Verizon isn't used to Apple yet. People should wait before buying the iPhone 4 from Verizon, there are bound to be a lot of bugs in the first batch.

I would go with AT&T because I don't really talk on the phone much and when I do talk on the phone, I get bored so being able to use other functions while in a conversation is good for me. But like I said, I don't really like to talk on the phone anyway so my phone is mainly used for texting. So, Verizon wouldn't benefit me since I am already on AT&T anyway.
I would just like to point out to everyone that any smart phone can still connect to a wireless network even while on a call and can do multitasking just as well as the iPhone 4 can on AT&T's network. My Palm Pre on Sprint is the multitasking original and does one hell of a job at it even while on a call and connected to a wireless hotspot. AT&T's point is moot, Verizon has the edge.
One thing that can be said though, is that AT&T does have the faster network where 3G service is available, as shown in multiple tests. [Cue AT&T coverage gripes]
...Just sayin'
this is why droids are better
i can do anything i want while on a call, and it doesn't drop it.
iphones will be outdated pretty soon anyways
where i live out in the hills of PA there is only service for Verizon users. soo. if i wanted to get an iPhone (which i have been considering) i would have to go with Verizon
with the verizon iphone i can talk and surf the web, and do everything on the phone while i talk... so i dont understand why it says you cant.
I currently have the iPhone 4 from Verizon, and it works perfectly fine. I haven't had a single problem. But my friend who has AT&T sometimes his texts will not send, and calls drop.
@treeless@xanga - same with me
