Cool Runnings May be the Best Film Ever Made

Cool Runnings. Damn. What an amazing movie! I don't know a single person that even remotely dislikes this Disney film. This posting is an homage to this world renowned motion picture because tonight, it's bobsled time. Some awesome parts:
- When they got into that barfight with the Austrian team: How funny was that? Sanka was flyin through the air at one point and Yul Brenner was kickin some European ass. I always wondered if Olympians went to bars like that and had awkward, uncomfortable mixers. Wasn't that like a country-western bar deep into Canada?
- When Yul gave Junior the legendary pump up: "I see pride, I see powahh, I see a badass mudda who don't take, no crap, off-a nobody!" TO THIS DAY whenever I share a mirror with someone I am obligated to say that. I hope someone has a tattoo of that somewhere. How inspirational! Why hasn't a rapper remixed that shit yet? Like, "I see pride (bass drops) I see powa powa powa powa."
- The unforgettable slow clap as they walked to the finish line: The slow clap begins and it spreads like wildfire, the battered Jamaicans walk the line and are met with nothing but admiration. Even the Austrian prick from earlier gets in on it, even the rival coach to John Candy gets in on it, EVEN Junior's dad gets in on it! He also bought a T-shirt and displayed it proudly. Even as a child I knew how heartfelt this scene was, I wish an image of them holding the sled was on one of those motivational posters.
- When Yul Brenner realizes his dream home was Buckingham Place: Damn, shot down son. He thought the postcard was a house he could move to, when in reality it was in London and meant for royalty. Ouch Yule, that was some rough shit. In restrospect he should have moved on a lot quicker than he did. Like, c'mon dude, get over it you're an Olympian.
- Sanka and all his crazy shit: Remember when he was locked in the ice cream truck and his dreadlock froze off? How about when he took over the kissing booth and was met by an old hag? What about his catchy song, "Some people say ya know ya can't believe, Jamaica we have a bobsled team!"
Thank you Cool Runnings for letting the youth of America know that a place called Jamaica existed. Thank you for making all of us want a Jamaican flag. Thank you for making us ask our parents if we could take, "bobsledding lessons." Thank you for being so solidly awesome. Thank you for instilling the values of: Motivation, Inspiration, Determination, Persistence, Honor, Courage, Friendship, and Sportsmanship.
What parts did I forget? How much do you love this masterpiece?

Good post man! I like how you spelled out the pronunciation of their words! LOL!
I LOVE THIS MOVIE! The mirror scene is on my motivational section. I'm surprised Kanye West hasn't used this yet.
Cool Runnings is one of my Top 5, if not slightly lower, favorite movies from Disney or Touchstone. IT needs to be reissued for limited edition sometime.
I think this movie basically started the slow clap! lol Thanks for subbing! :)
I LOVE Cool Runnings. I swear I can watch that movie a million times and not get tired of it. My favorite part is "Sanka, ya dead?" ::pause:: "Yah, mon." Poor Sanka. Haha
i cannot believe other people know of this amazing movie! haha. i thought i was the only one! when i mention it to friends or ask if they want to kiss my lucky egg they look at me weird. :/ they're missing out. i love this movie.
the slow cap was an amazing scene. and you're right, as a kid i felt the the joy when junior's dad showed off his shirt.Like.

Cold? I'm freezing my royal Rastafarian nay-nays off!
I loved this movie as well. The best hand clap ever?? Yes is was.
I've actually never seen this...is this bad? I mean, I remember it from when I was a kid, but I just never got around to watching it, haha.
I loved Cool Runnings! I used to watch it all the time as a kid, and knew all of the lines. xD I would like to know if it's on DVD, because I haven't seen it on DVD.
Green and Black and Yellow tights!
Who's a big hot bag of air? Who doesn't have to comb his hair. Who doesn't bathe, and doesn't care... Sanka Sanka Yay Sanka!!
Incredible movie! I still quote this one on a daily basis.
If you're going to bring up Yul Brenner's Buckingham let-down, you need to follow it up with Junior's redemption of his teammate's dream.
"All he has to do is know what he wants and work hard for it. And if he
wants it bad enough, he'll get it. Look, believe me, Sanka... the more
Yul Brenners we got making it in this world... the better off this world
will be, especially for Jamaicans. Go ahead, Yul Brenner. Go get your
palace"
(Thank you, imdb.com!)
Great movie :D
I used to like this movie but always did find Malik Yoba's fake accent to be annoying. He talks like an American on New York Undercover...
This movie is fantastic! I watched it so much when I was a kid my parents actually put a limit on how many times I could watch it a week :(
i love you for writing this.
