  • "Once you go Black Swan, you never go back...swan"

Like many people of America, I stopped watching Saturday Night Live a long time ago because let’s face it -- the show really isn’t that funny anymore. When I came home  last Saturday from celebrating the crazy upset of the New Orleans Saints losing to 7-9 Seattle Seahawks, I plopped down on the couch and SNL happened to be on, and to my surprise Jim Carey was hosting for the first time in 15 years.  I knew I would be in tears from all the laughter by the end of the show.

The best skit that I saw of the night was the parody they did of the movie “Black Swan”.  In the skit Carey took on the role of Lily portrayed by Mila Kunis in the movie, and tried to show fellow ballerina Nina (who was played by a SNL cast member) how to be a seductive black swan and master it. I personally thought it was funny-not as funny as the old Jim Carey skits on the 90’s show In Living Color, but I was definitely entertained.

It was hilarious when Carey came out in a tutu, black leotard, and a bun stating that he was late because he “ Sorry I was late, had to go No's. 3 and 4”.  I know what No. 1 and No. 2 is, but 3 and 4 I have no clue and now come to think about it, I’m better off not knowing.

Watching him dance and prance on stage was comical while another dancer fed him breadcrumbs, but one of my favorite parts is where the director Thomas asks the male dancer would he have sex with Nina, and Lily.  He looks first at Nina, and shakes his head no, and when he looks over at Lily, Carey has one finger in his mouth licking it, and then puts his whole fists in his mouth. Gotta love it!

He also sported his own swan wings that were actually buffalo wings which I thought was a great touch. In my opinion he made a wonderful attempt to seduce the director, and in my version would have won the role. To show he was sexier than Nina he went as far as not only showing his nipples to the world, but he also stuck gum into the directors ear!Real sexy Jim.

The spoof received good and bad reviews all over the internet. I personally laughed the entire time.  Even if you haven’t seen the movie, I think you’ll still find the skit funny.  It highlighted what Jim Carey does best:  Acting over the top! I won’t spoil the entire skit for you, so check it out here for yourself.

Did you think the skit was humorous?
