  • The Best Games Of 2010

As the year closes out, Mancouch is very interested in hearing about everyone's favorite parts of the year, be they game releases, movies, new technology, news stories, etc. Submit your list before the year is over!

My 5 Favorite Games For 2010

    1. Red Dead Redemption

Ah, the Wild, Wild West. A time when you could duel the man who dared to take your horse parking spot and when you could hit a woman and nobody would bat an eye.  Red Dead Redemption brought us an outlaw who despite his tough demeanor and quick trigger finger had a conscience that wouldn't let him kill people without a good enough reason.  Also, you come to find out he's got a past that he doesn't like to talk much of.  Although riding around on a horse in the desert isn't as fun as riding around in a ferrari and running jaywalkers over like in Grand Theft Auto I still think Rockstar did a pretty good job in making a very entertaining wild west themed game.

    2.  Dragon Quest IX

This was a pleasant surprise.  Unlockable classes, over 100 quests, secret grottos and an open world this game had the makings of a great RPG.  The only thing I dislike about the DS Dragon Quest series is being unable to skip the long, dramatic scenes.  I'm all for having a story line but the Japanese can really overdo it.

    3. Mass Effect II

Being a huge fan of Mass Effect I was super excited for the sequel and Bioware did not disappoint.   New characters like the tatted up, ass kickin' 'Jack' in the picture above (although the belts around the boobs area was a tad bit much) quickly made the game an exciting adventure.

    4. God of War III

Let's face it.  Kratos is most definitely not a good guy.  He's not a tragic hero where you sympathize with his quest for vengeance against  Zeus.  But you can't help but have fun as you help him battle his way towards Mt.Olympus.  I'd been waiting for the conclusion of Kratos' journey from the very beginning and thought this game brought it all to a very satisfying conclusion.  I just hope that when they make a movie (and of course they will) they'll be sure to make Kratos the badass that he truly is.

    5.  Heavy Rain

Now this is different, is what I thought as I started playing this game.  It's a murder mystery thriller that evolves as you make choices throughout the game.  As the storyline evolved I was convinced that one was the killer only to find out I was wrong the entire time.  I throughly enjoyed playing this and would recommend it to anyone.

Now, everyone.  What are YOUR favorite games for 2010?
