5 Things That Actually Used To Be Legal
This is a guest post from Just a Guy Thing. While discussions about legalization have been popping up frequently in regards to topics like assisted suicide, gay marriage, and marijuana, there still remain many actions that society would never look favorably upon. Well, not anymore. There were days in not-so-distant past that murder, incest, child abuse, drunk driving, and removing people’s brains were not only legal, but standard practice. Our friends at COED Magazine have the rest of the scoop right here.

Just for the record, a lobotomy isn't removing a person's brain, it's severing the nerves connecting the two hemispheres of your brain.
But yeah, these are disturbing but I figured most of these were common knowledge...ever read One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest or taken a class on American history?
@x__RainOnHerParade@xanga -I didn't know what a lobotomy was until I researched it. You're right. it's just the severing of nerves. And you're right...most of these are common sense..but you'll see how little common sense is..
It used to be OK to beat your wife and kids. I'm so glad those days are over.
LSD used to be legal.
Most illegal drugs used to be legal. People used to have fun... :D
welp what abot slavery
Is marrying one's 2nd cousin illegal? I know a couple that did that...
Mary Jane. That is all.
@Hinase@xanga - Yes, its sad how uncommon common sense is, isn't it? :P
@x__RainOnHerParade@xanga - It's quite sad. =( I do agree on that.
@Audiofreak18@xanga - Here's the thing about cousins..the further down the line they are from you..the further they are related to you. They don't have the same grandparents as you or even great grand parents. It really depends on the state really. Usually 3 and 4th down the line are okay. Because they're not directly related to you.
in 25 states you can marry your cousin.
but gay marriage is illegal...
just sayin.
@Hinase@xanga - yes but you still have a higher chance of sharing deleterious recessive alleles, therefore putting your children at great risk.
@ItsSati@xanga - I don't know too much about genetics I will admit. Though you are right about that. (I researched it bit. Interesting stuff..)
@Hinase@xanga - yes it is! You should look up all the disorders King Tut was supposedly afflicted with because he was a child of close relations, if you're interested that is haha.
@ItsSati@xanga - Ooh I quite like king Tut. I've been looking up that..as well as inbreeding depression. Now, I wish I could take genetics. It just sounds so interesting..
Id child abuse and drunk driving were still legal, I would be screwed.
