  • How to Unsend an Embarrassing E-mail (Quick! You Have only 30 Seconds!!!)

Actually, I can only tell you how to catch that runaway e-mail before it arrives in the wrong inbox, if you use Gmail.

I came across this handy dandy feature while reading an article on CNN, which has an easy to read step-by-step guide. Click here for the original article.

If you already have Gmail, it's a cinch to enable this lab. First, simply sign into your Gmail account.

Second, go to the "More" button on top, and then click "Even More."

Third, find the "Gmail Labs" button and then scroll down until the Undo Sent ability and click "Enable."

This will only grant you about 10 seconds, but you can stretch out to about 30 seconds in the settings. If you do in fact need to undo a sent, the "Undo" option should be right next to the confirmation "Your message has been sent." (Even though the message is actually in a holding place.)

Notice: I'm not sure if this works on mobile devices or for programs like MAIL for the Mac. I think one would need to actually be logged into their Gmail account via Gmail.com.

Regardless, remember to practice save e-mailing. If you do in fact make a mistake, stay calm and cool. The clock is ticking, so remember to click Undo! Don't panic!

Have you ever sent the wrong e-mail to the wrong person at the wrong time? How did that fare?
