Girls & Piercings
So I know I've done a post on tattoos and got varied responses from the typical response of 'girls with tattoos look trashy' to 'girls with tattoos are hot'. But what about piercings? I'm not talking about the typical various ear piercings, but piercings such as nose & navel.
I wanted my nose & belly button pierced when I was younger, but didn't even think about asking my mom because I already knew what her answer would be. I was going to get my lip or nose pierced when I was 19, but than I watched my friend get her lip pierced and decided not to. I've decided that since I was able to get two tattoos that I should probably be able to sit through the few seconds of pain of getting something pierced.
I don't have my ears pierced because my mom wouldn't let me do it when I was younger and she has to wear 14k gold when she wears jewelry. As for me, since I don't have pierced ears, I don't know if it would matter if I wore gold or not. When I wear any other kind of jewelry, it doesn't bother me.
My question is, what are your views/opinions on girls with nose & belly button piercings, or piercings in general? For those of you that do have piercings, which hurts less?
Mancouch says: I did an entry about tattoos on women as well and stuck by the credo that tattoos can be sexy and empowering if they stray from convention and has meaning. Piercings are a different story, though, and I don't really think the two are comparable because piercings aren't as readily noticeable and don't hold as much of a stigma in the public eye. In that sense, I think that any kind of piercing, whether it's on the navel or ear, can be sultry and becoming. I love piercings on women.

It depends more on the girl and her attitude than what she has pierced. imo anyway.
i have my nose, tragus & two holes in each ear. if a guy doesn't like it, he can kiss my ass & i'll find a guy that does like it.
as for girls, i think those hip dermals & belly button piercings are trashy looking. just my opinion, though.
I have my nose and lip pierced in the middle. My husband doesn't have a problem with it and I don't care what other people think. My nose piercing actually hurt just a little bit worse than the lip. It just stung for a minute or two. The lip was easy...like a hot knife through butter; but I think that's because it's softer tissue than your nose.
I think lots of piercings in the ear are cool, and also nose and belly button. But things like eyebrow, monroe, lip, etc only look good on CERTAIN girls. Not everyone can pull off facial piercings. But tongue is trashy and I don't get why half my grade of fifteen/sixteen year olds have it pierced. Sluts :P
I pierced my own belly when I was 13, it doesn't hurt. Ii got bored of it though and let it heal up, I got it re-pierced properly and tbh that hurt more than when I did it myself :/
I have my tongue pierced to, and a scaffold piercing. I have to say that the scaffold hurt the most :( But all in all, they're not particularly painful!
I lovelovelove piercings, on anyone (:
I do like most piercings. I don't like nose or lip piercings much though. But I love ear, belly, and nipple piercings. I haven't been around girls with much of the other weirder body piercings though.
I have had my ears pierced 4 times on the left ear, 3 on the right, a standard belly button piercing, a lower belly button piercing, and a VCH. I only wear 4 rings now though- one pair in the ears, one in the navel, and the VCH. I can honestly say that the most scandalous of these piercings hurt the least and healed the fastest, but I researched A LOT before I got it, and didn't get it until I was married. The belly button and my cartilage piercing hurt the worst, belly button took the longest to heal.
I like the Monroe piercing, but only on certain girls. I don't like most facial/tongue piercings, but I wouldn't automatically think somebody was trashy if they have them.
Both the hubby and I love the VCH... and I don't think it's trashy because nobody else will ever see it!
I don't mind ears, but everything else makes me gag. It's a socially accepted form of self-mutilation.
I have 12 piercings. If anyone has a problem with that, they aren't really worth me talking to. My tongue hurt the least, surprisingly. In fact, it didn't really hurt at all, it just swelled up a bit for a day or two.
I love my nose piercing. A lot of my friends have their belly buttons pierced. I'm not a fan of nipple piercings, I think they're kinda gross and I'd never get my tongue pierced.
Lately I've been seeing a lot of girls with the star piercing (I'm not sure what it's called). I think it looks cool, but I'd never do it...it might catch on something, major owie!
@RottenOnTheOutside@xanga - lol yeah I heard the tongue is the least painful..
I think the pain depends on the person's tolerance though because my tongue hurt pretty badly...that's all I have pierced right now. Ears was nothing at all, I want my belly button done, but doubt I will, and I would love hips or a corset piercing but being as neither of them stays for very long, I wouldn't go through that much pain or money.
I have both my nose and belly button pierced. Belly was nothing...nose hurt like a son of a bitch
Nose studs are hot, rings are not really. Belly button is kind of meh. If you're got a really nice stomach, I'd rather just see the stomach without a chandelier obstructing my view. Nipples are a no-go for me. They seem trashy to me. The hips, as pictured above, is just odd. I like grabbing a girls hips and those would get in the way. Lips and tongue just seem odd. I've never been attracted to them to be honest.
All I have to say is: Good luck getting an office job with a facial piercing of any kind. Every job I've been in that has an office setting (as well as any respectable food service job) requires that all piercings (not always ears) are removed. Like it or not, it doesn't look professional.
I just have my ears, two in each. I think the stud in the nose is kinda boring, but that's just cuz I see it all the time. I'm just going to keep my years done, a lot because of the job I want to get into. But some girls can pull it off well.
@of_such_a_prodigious_paradox@xanga - That's exactly why I'm not getting any facial piercings. Doesn't look too good in retail.
Hmmm, I like piercings in general as long as it's subtle and won't impede the girl from being active (i.e. rock climbing or SCUBA diving). I like pierced navel and ears the best but I tend to dislike facial piercings. The one exception is on a hot rocker chick, who can look good with eye brow piercings.
tongue and belly button aren't that attractive, imo. if you're the kind of girl that needs to show off the ~bling~ in your stomach all the flipping time, you're probably not the kind of girl a nice guy wants to take home. i think a female's stomach is way sexier just the way it is, not enhanced by jewelry. tongue just looks trashy to me, sorry.
"anti-eyebrow", bridge .. the untraditional piercings that are rare but almost ALWAYS found on the people they suit and were basically meant for? hot. if you're confident enough to go out and get a piercing that not everybody and their mom has AND it looks great, good for you.
I love piercings but I think it really depends on the person. I won't get any facial piercings because I don't think they look very
professional. I got my belly button pierced when I was 18 and it was probably the least painful. Now, I have an industrial on my left ear and both nipples pierced. The industrial was probably the worst because it's taken such a long time to heal.
Navel hurts the least Love all my peircings getting my cooter peirced tomorrow actually
I'm ok with piercings - you should see the piercings during the India's Thaipusam and other religious celebrations.
Piercings are cool in my book; I answered on the tattoo question as well. And like my answer to that question, I think that since it's not my body, I don't have anything to say about it. And if a person is uncomfortable with whatever they pierced, then can take it out and let it heal, so that's always a plus. And I also believe it depends on the person. There's some girls who look good with piercings, and others don't. Just depends on who it is.
I have my nose and my ears (3 holes in each), I'd hafta say that my ears hurt less than my nose did.
as to the mancouch comment at the end, i have my lip pierced twice, along with a large number of tattoo's. i might not be a girl, but i know that my piercings cause me MUCH more social stigma than my tattoo's.
to the post; piercings only look good on some girls. and don't go overboard.
I think that when a "normal" girl (as in not in the punk/rock/whatever scene that requires tattoos and piercings to get into the before mentioned scene) gets a face piercing or even a naval piercing is more for herself or other females. I think more females are interested in other female's piercings than men are. I've talked to a lot of men and they don't really find a big interest in those kind of piercings. Many (not all) don't find them attractive or more appealing than not having the piercing and sometimes those piercings may become a turn off. Many men don't find a purpose of a belly ring and most girls are the ones that notice when another has had it pierced. And more girls will find themselves wanting their belly pierced rather than a man wanting a woman with her belly pierced.
I have my navel pierced. It took a long time to heal but that's how my body works. I also got my lip pierced two times, and they did not heal either. It did not hurt getting either things pierced.
LOVE piercings. So much. To me it's a form of bodily expression that's not as permanent as a tattoo, it's great.
I personally have 2 lobe piercings on each side, a rook on my left ear, nose, and belly button. Getting my tragus and a double helix on my right ear when I get some moneyz.
Out of the piercings I have, the navel hurt most just because I went to a shitty place and it's crooked too... sweet :/ But if I had gotten it done somewhere legit, I'm sure the rook would have hurt more... straight cartilage is scary man.
