  • Goodbye

    Hey there, Coucheteers.

I'm your wonderful and beloved Head Editor hear at Mancouch. I started working here over a year ago and for the past 7+ months I have had the privilege to be responsible for the things you see every day right here on this site.

I'm writing this to tell you that this time has come to an end.

It is with both joy and sadness that I choose to move on. It was a long and hard (heehee) journey and it is bittersweet to say goodbye.

Don't fret, my little Couchkins, I'm leaving you in a pair of extremely capable and talented hands. My successor will treat you well.

Over my time here I have seen a lot. In both your submissions and your comments. Sometimes those comments have been enlightening and I truly have to thank erahslover and mynameisblueskye for their contributions during my tenure. You two in particular have made my job far more worthwhile and enjoyable than it would have been otherwise. There have been other regulars whose comments have kept me in good spirits as well, but none have as consistently and as often added something to the process.

Sometimes those comments have been hateful, racist, homophobic, annoying, grating, dull, dim-witted, mean spirited, and just straight stupid. Sometimes they were directed at me, sometimes they were directed at the site, and sometimes they were directed at fellow commentors (or just abstract). That's ok. That's to be expected when you are writing for the web. And I tried even in those situations where people seemed to be adding nothing of value to allow people to speak their minds. I'm happy to say that there have been very few cases where I felt some one truly crossed a line.

Overall, though, things balanced towards the good and the positive. It can be hard to see that sometimes. Both in writing and in life. The stench of the negative can so often overwhelm and warp the good. In all your future endeavors, Couchicles of Narnia, I hope that you have the ability to not let the negative overwhelm the positive. This is not a plea for optimism. It is simply a hope to keep a truly objective eye even when things seem to be completely covered in shit. Usually it's just a little shmutz on your tux.

And with that, Couchinators, that I bid you farewell. I hope you all remain in good health and good fortune.
