  • Terrible Tattoos, Permanent Shame

So among the laundry list of things people regret doing after they actually do it are bad tattoos.

Here are a few particularly tasteless tattoos.

You can't help but feel bad for some of these people, knowing that these things are permanent.

Do you guys have any interesting tattoo stories?

Lol - very stupid - particularly the one about Ray Romano lol - imagine if Ray Romano ends up dead (murdered) - her tattoo is going to cause her to become a top suspect!

  • erahslover@xanga

That first tattoo could've been great if the tattoo getter had actually done some research before just strolling into some random tattoo shop and asking for something it takes a specialist to pull off. That'd be like going to a lazer eye surgeon or a dentist... JUST because you see a sign on a highway overpass that says "LASER-EYE SURGERY!!" or "DENTIST HERE!!"

But in his defense - whomever that artist is shouldn't be allowed to do non-stencil tattoos and shoudlve had the common decency to TELL whomever got that tattoo that they arent the one for that type of art. That'd be like going to graffiti artist and getting them to design your house and them going "uh.. ok... how much." Not that a graf artist is incapable of also designing houses well, but you get what im saying.

This was a dumb rant and I apologize. But it just REALLY boils my blood when tattoo shops take a "You got the Money? We got the art!!" type of stance on their business model versus taking their craft seriously. Jerks who doodled a lot in school think they can open a tattoo shop to make money.. fucking despicable.

I have 3 tattoos(1st at 15 the other two at 22 & 25).. and I researched the FUCK out of them before I got them.. and they werent even faces loll.

tried to date a guy, only to realize he had a large full-color superman symbol tattooed on his back. upon poking fun at it, he used the excuse that he got it when he was 18. i said "and it was cool when you were 18?" he said yes. potential relationship over.

  • hitomineko@xanga

ewwwwwwww the first one is scary.. the last one is..... need i say more?

  • Shinbi_Belldandy@xanga

@erahslover@xanga - You're exactly right. Alot of people just go anywhere for tattoos & dont do research. When I got my first tattoo last month, I went to a guy recommended by friends & people in the area who got several tattoos there & I looked at pictures & work they were in the process of doing to make sure they werent just stencil artists. I'm not against those but really good tattoo artists can do stencil art & draw custom tattoos. And they arent just in the business for money. I checked that shop head to toe before I let them near my arm!!

The best advertisement is word of mouth & that's how those guys make their money, which is awesome.

i feel bad about the memorial one, he got a tattoo for his dead wife and it now looks like a zombie.

Apparently people need some advice on how to get a tattoo.

#1: make sure you are getting something you know you will ALWAYS want to have on you--if you ever think the words "I don't know, should I?", then don't do it#2: make sure you know you'll be 100% satisfied with the placement #3: if you're getting words, make sure the spelling/grammar is perfect (and check at least 20 times) #4: always go to the tattoo artists that have great reputations and are recommended (look at some of the work they have done, too)
I think if you got all of this covered, you'll be fine. But obviously there are many people who don't even think to go over these things. Not thinking things over = regret.

My daughter saw a guy with a tatoo on his neck. It was supposed to be his Mom's name "Patsy"   It said "PASTY" instead!

  • DarcKleer@xanga

A friend of mine got a memorial tat for his brother who was killed. It's a beautiful cross and the script is nice except they spelled his name wrong. He spelled his name Michael but the artist spelled it Micheal. My friend didn't notice it til AFTER the work was done but the artist offered a free appointment to fix it.

I have tattoos and they are a vertical row of colorful stars from the right side of my neck down to my back. I'm not ashamed of them.

yeah that first one could have been really good if the guy went to someone who knew what the hell they were doing...the others are pretty dumb lol

  • peacenow@xanga

Yikes. First off if someone is going to make a stupid decision and get something like the Ray Ramano one or the STUPID one that's completely on them. They've spent a lot of money for something they think they want for some reason. How will they feel in 10 years about that? If the tattoo artist misspelled AWESOME it seems there would be compensation. Now for the portraits - the wife and the baby one. You never ever get a portrait without doing some serious research. Not every artist can do a portrait. In my opinion this is a tribute to a loved one and is worth the time to search for a person with a good rep. Any artist worth their salt will be honest about their limitations and point you in the direction of someone who does have a good rep for doing portraits. My husband has a portrait of our daughter who passed away. He knew he was going to get it for over a year. He checked around to all ink parlors in our area. He met with the artist he decided on a couple of times. The portrait is well done. I'm her mom so I'm damn critical and can only give it an A- or a B+ but others do not see the flaws I see. It does look good. The one of the wife in this post I can only give D. Seriously. She is lovely and young but in the tat she looks like she's old and kind of scary. That's so sad... Really. It's heartbreaking this guy has to live with this when he could've had one that was done well with the time and research. There is no baby photo to compare that one to so who knows but I hope the baby is cuter. I typically don't even comment on these things that come up on the homepage but I guess in light of the tattoo my husband got for our daughter I was compelled. peace
