CLASH OF THE TITANS

Entertaining action/adv flick based on Greek Mythology [specifically the story of Perseus, mortal son of Zeus]. Decent performance by Sam Worthington [as Perseus] ...his role didn't seem to require much acting though, and he kind of reminded me of his role as 'Marcus' in "Terminator: Salvation" at times. Worthington's performance as the hero had a little too many cliches, but I guess that was to be expected. Great performances by Ralph Fiennes [as Hades], Liam Neeson [as Zeus], Pete Postlethwaite, Jason Flemyng, and Mads Mikkelsen. Good performances by Alexa Davalos and Gemma Arterton. I saw it in 3D and I must say that it didn't enhance the experience that much...3D is highly overrated, it's fine in 2D. The style of the film reminded me of "The Chronicles of Riddick" a little bit at certain points [come to think of it...Alexa Davalos starred in that as well.] but I digress. Overall it wasn't as EPIC as I wanted it to be and the ending was pretty anti-climactic, but it was entertaining for the most part.Rating: 3 out of 5

Not as epic as I wanted it to be either. I think the outfit that Zeus wore was pretty ridiculous and hyper-shiny, and there should have been a lot more action with the Kraken :/
"what's really amazing, is that they filmed the movie in 2D, converted it to 3D, and the characters still stayed 1D." (or something to that effect)

needless to say i wasn't a terribly big fan.
Haven't seen it yet, probably might just wait for the "online" DVD. Good to hear some honest reviews for once. :D
@meta_k@xanga - I didn't mind the outfit that much, lol...the outfit reminded me of Jor-El from Superman a little bit.
Yeah they built up the Kraken so much the entire movie, it was pretty anti-climactic how easily it was dealt with.
@soyeahthatswhathappened@xanga - Colbert is the man, lol.
@Elimane@xanga - Thanks man, I have some more brief movie reviews on my site.
I'm probably going to wait to see it on DVD.
@methodElevated@xanga - I can't blame you.
Have you seen the original 1981 version? It's a little campy, but for it's time, it was good. I think I'm going to wait to see the new one on DVD...
You're right 3-D is overrated! The movie, it was alright. I suggest that one who hasn't seen it yet go and rent the original 1981 version so they can compare and contrast each other. I loved the original! Honestly the original film's story was better and this new one kind of rushed through, seemed to be real short. But it's worth a matinée.
@meta_k@xanga - I don't know, I like the god's outfit, they were cool to me! I wish that I could have seen all of the gods up close.
@princessremy@xanga - Whoo!! Yeah she is gorgeous!!!
@idiotmango - Posieidon was there, he sat on the right side of Zeus with a dark colored beard and had the Trident in his hand. His outfit was gold colored.
Gemma Arterton looked hot (:
I feel like it had the potential to be amazing with the story and the visuals. But I agree with a comment above that it was rushed, which I feel was it's downfall.
I had really hoped to see more gods and especially the Kraken. How come there was no Poseidon!? I love Greek mythology so I was disappointed in the lack of screen time for the gods.
@princessremy@xanga - Yes, she was absolutely gorgeous!
I liked the original better. I wish the original's story outline and the effects from this movie would have a baby or something. Haha.
but all in all they both didn't really stay true to the original myth. which is to be expected. but i'm kind of picky about these things.
Anyways, I'd give the old one a 4.5/5 and the new one a 4/5.
@frozenfire55608@xanga - I love the original, especially how when they do scenes with Pegasus they make it clay or whatever it is and then when they zoom in its a real horse ROFL. It's really funny. But the story in the original was overall better; it had more elements of the original myth in it.
Fun to watch, yeah. But the rushed story-telling and saddening lack of character development irritated me. As long as you're not looking for a seriously, epically awesome film, it's good.
I read that the 3D wasn't that great for this movie.
@Hermeown@xanga - Yeah from what I've read, the director wanted to release a longer cut but the studio opted for this cut of the film...hence not enough character development.
i gotta give them props for the inside joke jabs at the original, for sure. but i agree with all the above comments about how rushed it seemed at time.
loved all of the actors... I noticed there were two characters that played in the british tv show Skins... but the movie was cheesy, and the storyling was corny.
honestly Hollywood just ruined the Greek mythology. the Greeks should be sueing .. seriously.
do your homework before you watch this movie.
movie sucked.
entertaining yes. (if you don't have a clue about mythology)
as far as story line goes. . . it's all wrong.
they just ruined a perfectly good mythology.
I was the only one in the entire movie theater to actually notice the joke of the original persues story. lol loved the owl.
btw. persues never rode Pegasus . he had winged sandels given to him by hermes.
first of all. what's up with all that ridicules lights and the freaken armor?? dude they wore a toga!! the gods weren't afraid of dieing!! because they were immortal. hello?!
