"Those" Kids
Whether it be on the train, walking down the street, or passing each other in hallways--my best friend and I are notorious for making scenes. Just today, we were skipping about the city streets, singing and asking strangers for high-fives.
To some people, we're a nuisance, obnoxious teenagers. A lot of the time, we set the scenes to entertain bystanders--to give them a story to tell at dinner that night. The way we figure, that kind of story could begin one of two ways: "These *damn* kids" or "These cool kids". Maybe we're wrong. Maybe the people cracking up as we skip around are laughing at us, not with us.
The thing that bites us most, is that we wish we ran into ridiculous people like ourselves on the street. It sure would make my day.
Would it make yours?

i'd be a little irked if a stranger asked me for a high five.
Guess it really depends on what you do. I find alot of stuff like that annoying. But some antics are really funny. But they are few and far between.
"Those kids" just scream attention whore to me. They're not funny and great as they make themselves to be and a few years from now, they'll see how they were complete tools.
i thinks it just attention loving. it personally annoys me.
It depends. It's nice for strangers to strike up a conversation in a non-creepy or rude way. At least you won't go through life un-noticed, I guess
@HippocreneQueen@xanga - Yeah, but in all honesty we just do it to get a laugh. It's not necessarily to whore ourselves to be in the spotlight. @Heatherwhoelse@xanga - Sometimes :/ But not in this case, I promise. If it's an effort to make someone smile is it the same thing?
Strangers and strangers. No eye contact, no communication, nothing. Just another face out in public. No interaction is needed unless necessary, like if they dropped something or if they got mugged..
Depends on my mood that day, if I don't care I'll play along but if like for example I failed my final I'd be ptfo.
Yup, I hate "those" kids. Most of the time I am in deep thought and my thoughts get interrupted just because they want attention. Annoying as hell.
I am one of "those" kids and proud of it. I see nothing wrong with it, it's not "spotlight stealing" or "attention whoring", it's being you're own crazy self, if someone asked me for a high five on the street and seemed the crazy type I would probably take them and start dancing down the street with them.
I'd skip and give high fives with you!
I hate people who get pissed at that.
@Day923@xanga - Of course you do it to get a laugh, but you do it in a way that calls attention to yourselves and honestly it's not cute or funny at all.
It depends on my mood.
I despise your kind of people. Getting off by getting on people's nerves.
@WhenHateIsTheOnlyOption@xanga - We're not getting off on annoying people, we're just clowns. Comedians. We're just trying to crack a joke and make people smile, I think people are misinterpreting this. We're not in people's faces, or constantly saying the same thing over and over. I realize you can't please everyone, but it's not like we set out to piss people off.
Well people have lives to live; places to be, things to do. They are in a rush and "you kids" are getting in their faces and annoying them by asking for petty little hi-5s. What's the point? What's in it for them? You know most adults don't care for it. Just because you enjoy it doesn't mean perfect strangers are going to find it amusing too. Go do something productive! If you can't, then leave strangers alone, damnit.
@PrettyKitten@datingish - Yeah, that's true. But, were not it their face, we walk by, hold up our arm, that's it. If we get a highfive--yay. If we don't, that's okay too. Having fun IS productive for us. It beats latin homework, haha.
It depends. To you it may seem one way, whereas everyone else may find it annoying. But since I have never met you and witnessed this behavior, who knows? Maybe people do enjoy it.
In my opinion, there is a big difference between people who are having fun and enjoying being with their friends & then being loud, obnoxious, disrespectful of others and just doing shit to get reactions out of people. Hopefully you are not crossing that line.@Day923@xanga - well. Latin is not productive at all, seeing as it's an ancient language unspoken by no major ethnic group anymore, lol. I'm with you there. :)
maybe some day me and my best friend will run into you and your best friend in public. we also are the ones that leave people with stories to tell others. most of the time we leave people giggling with enjoyment. it makes us feel good thinking we made someone's day.
I would be annoyed but part of me will be wishing I was a teenager again, but mostly annoyed.
My friends do this, and it annoys me.
Oooh... "those kids". I always think "those kids" are trying to hit on me whenever they pull random high fives or giggle from afar and run away. Which is extremely awkward because I'm in college.
Either that or they're just trying to get on my nerves. Those damn kids D:<<
Yeah it would definitely make my day. My brother is very into this kind of weird social behavior but it makes people happy so I don't see anything wrong with it.
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who matter don't mind, and those that mind, don't matter.
