9 Horror Films That Twisted My Mind
Since there are a handful of top 10 hottest females, 10 Manliest movies, and a recent topic of zombies in the gaming@mancouch, I decided to do a new topic, horror films. I recently watched Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments and the 30 Even Scarier Movie Moments and my friends ask for suggestions on what horror flicks to watch. I did 9 because, well honestly I couldn't think of a 10th or force myself to pick one to make 10.
*NOTE* these aren't necessarily the best/classic horror films
-Jaws-
I was born and raised in Hawaii, HAWAII!!!! what do people do in Hawaii? go to the beach, surf, hang out with friends at the beach, paddling, picnic at the beach, watch the sunset at the beach, i think you get the idea. plus it didnt help that i was only 3 maybe 4 when i saw this movie, so that kinda ruined my childhood.
-Ichi the Killer-
If you've seen this movie then you probably agree that this movie is somewhat disturbing. the film is by the great Japanese director Takashi Miike.

-Audition-
This film is kinda like a Japanese version of those women who go crazy movies. story isn't the best but this one is also quite disturbing and another film from Takashi.
*She is holding a wire saw in the pic below.
-Oldboy-
A Korean revenge/horror film, and just like the two Japanese films, i found it a bit disturbing.

-Se7en-
The character John Doe, is brilliant.

-The Devil's Rejects-
Watched this one with some friends, and when the scene with Otis and that one chicks husband, i think i might have been the only one in the theater who laughed with the Firefly (I think that was their name) family.

-Wolf Creek-
Backpacking in Australia, this movie might change your mind a little bit. and it's loosely based on ture events.

-Cabin Fever-
Didnt really want to scratch any itch on me or shave for a little while after this movie.

-A Clockwork Orange-
I must have been about 13 when i saw this one, this screwed with my head.

Some of my friends think I'm a bit disturbed because of these movies(I don't think they are wrong), and my response is " watch them and join my club!"
So what horror movies affected you?

What about Se7en? That was a total mindfuck.
I thought Wolf Creek was incredibly disappointing, it just...ended. There was really no plot. Jaws kinda of gave me a sense on security. Every shark I ever saw in Hawai'i always seemed so little and friendly in comparison, even if I was surfing with them. :P
The Ring. I used to watch scary movies all the time. cant watch a single one since that one. i walked out of district 9 becuz it was "too scary". i kno i'm lame.
I love horror movies! I want to watch all of these.
I was like 7 or 8 when I saw The Sixth Sense for the first time ... when I saw the ending, it really tripped me out.
Interesting list.
The Sixth Sense and The Shining.
i loved audition and clockwork orange. and clockwork orange is more of a cult movie
Wolf Creek I saw that in the theatres I thought it was horrible..Never got to see all of Se7en but it seemed pretty good..
I think they make me a bit more immune to whats going on in today's world. ANd stuf like scary houses don't scare me much anymore. xD
Cabin fever was garbage.
I don't bother with Japanese horror though, so eh.
Audition was AWESOME. The ending made me shit a brick.
No movies have recently twisted me since Child's Play when I was six...
I like Ju-On: The Grudge. I recommend "Shutter" (THAI VERSION). I've never seen Old Boy, but I don't bother since I already know the ending...
No way clockwork orange is a horror film. Not scary, definitely a cult film, I love the psychology of it.
Mirrors was creepy to me, I think about it whenever I am at home alone in the shower. Other than that can't say there was anything that has left an impression on me.I watched "The Exorcist" when I was 9 and didn't sleep for the next 48 hours.
But that was 20 years ago... and now I love the book and the movie, but it still creeps me out.
The Exorcist is terrifying if you see it as real and possible to happen. Oh, and the odd events that took place when making the movie and the people that died.
A lot of these aren't horrors. Seven is a psychological thriller, so is A Clockwork Orange. Jaws I don't really think of as horror either, but all are great movies.
Goooood list! I love real Asian horror films and not the shitty remakes that have been done over the last decade. Takashi Miike is amazing--I loved his short film, Imprint. Also, High Tension was pretty good if you ignore the strange pointless "twist" at the end.
I hope Mancouch talks more about horror films because I am all over this shit =)
hmmm, thats interesting, thought saw would of been in the list but then again its more gore than horror
Oldboy didn't particularly f*&^ me up, but parts were certainly cringe-worthy. Especially given the ending, when you watch it for the second time.
oldboy. >.< EXTREMELY disturbing imo.
I loove psychological thrillers (I hate a ton of gushing blood). The Shining was brilliant, and I just watched Mirrors recently.
clockwork orange
I love horror films but CANNOT do films with creepy kids in them. My son has made me scream more than once in a dimly lit room in the middle of the night.
ugh, i was completely disturbed by "the hills have eyes 2."
i have never seen the first one, and i hardly get disturbed but the second installment of this series left me a little disgusted.
FAVORITE MOVIES EVER.
The Birds! I saw it when I was pretty young and I was scared of birds for awhile after that...
Poughkeepsie Tapes.
