LGBT Not Welcome
It had a big circle in the middle of the page with a line through it. The words in the circle? LGBT. Underneath it I saw "No gays allowed!!! You're not wanted here!!!!" scribbled on the paper. I was going to sit there in spite of the paper, but my less-than-straight friend spoke in a panicked voice "You're killing me, Rachel! You're killing me! Let's go sit somewhere else." So we did.
Just because a person doesn't swing the same direction as you doesn't make them diseased. It doesn't make them a different species, and it doesn't make them less worthy to live.
I was disgusted when I read that paper and I found it completely unnecessary. I expect more of society.

So many protests, so little progress. It happens.
I agree. But why is this on mancouch?
Well, welcome to America. :/
@Tanezia_Delight@xanga - The Irony!
So much fear! Will they ever grow up?
I don't understand this hatred/fear/disgust towards gay people. I mean, wtf is the big deal? Ugh I wish Society would just get over it!
A rare moment of poignant social consciousness from normally frivolous mancouch. Well done!
You know what I find just weird? That homphoboes are more afraid of me giving them sheep's eyes than a bullet. Oh, teh noes! I will catch teh gay! :x =/ It gets old, but it's made me stronger in a way. I don't take insults in, I just let them roll off my shoulders now.
i'm a straight guy who fully supports gay rights, but i always tell the homophobes "if for no other reason to support gay rights, think of it this way. whenever two gay guys get together that's two less guys competing for the same women as you and i." you can't use logic with idiots so explain it in a way they'll understand.
@Ballisticfutbol@xanga - WOW that's a REALLY smart way to make retards do what you want.
inneresting use of MS paint in that picture...
of course this is on mancouch! Real men don't hate gays, in fact hetero men can be a little jealous.
We still HAVE to put up with women.
That is absolutely ridiculous.
couldn't find a good picture, huh.
and you'll get more too. trust me on that.
@Gaijinsays@xanga - with respect, you look old enough to know the answer to that.
no h8. fear is everywhere and so is stupidity. that is just so sad, so very very sad
@MissPixieGlitter@xanga - I thought the same thing.
I agree that such discrimination like this is disgusting. Whether it's racism, sexism, homophobia, unfortunately it's still something we as a society struggle with. However, to look at Universities and considering how they are the institutions of higher learning, it still never ceases to shock and anger me that such a problem is still blatantly apparent even in some or most universities throughout America. I've seen crap like this in my campus and I should be used to it by now, some might say. But hey, as I've seen, no matter how much diversity there is, there's still room for prejudice and biases to fit in and keep on going. Terrible reality.
You expect more from society? Hahaha... why? What America have you been living in? I'm all for the advancement of awareness and tolerance and all that jazz, but we still live in a somewhat homophobic, racist, xenophobic, and all around ignorant society. I expect society to change slowly. It surprises me when I go through an entire week without hearing or seeing some kind of stupid ignorant bullshit.
@pnrj@xanga - NOOO! I go to the news for my thought-provoking reads, I come to Mancouch to ponder, but to ponder on boobs, beers, video games, and probably more boobs.
Sadly reminiscent of racial segregation.
@mcmeister89 - i used to be an optimist. i used to believe that yes, human culture changes slowly, but at least it spirals forward. however, i'm beginning to think this hope was misplaced. lately i've come to suspect we're moving in a circle, not a spiral. granted the period of this circle is measured in generations, or even tens of generations, but give us time. we'll get back to where we came from. for example, as soon as we run out of some vital essence that takes the place of slaves. you know, like oil.
@complicatedlight@xanga - That's the sad part. I know it will never happen. There will always be the haters, the bigots, the ignorant and the poor, sad head-in-a-dark-place souls who just KNOW what's right for us all. Nothing will ever change, I know, but I will always live in hope that we will overcome.
@Gaijinsays@xanga - good for you. keep that hope alive. trust me, it sucks to lose it. as for me, about the only thing i'm able to hope for these days is getting my hope back.
" I expect more of society."
That is a naive statement.
