How do I even know the names of these restaurants if I've never been to one? Odd, isn't it? A couple of these burger joints have commercials airing in Brooklyn, yet no location. The commercials tease and torment me! I love trying a new burger and the fact that I'd probably have to drive out of state to get it is crazy to me. As an arrogant native New Yorker, it's absolutely mind blowing that we don't have at least one of everything here.
In -n- Out (above)
I've heard so many good things about In n Out, and the majority of the locations are about 3000 miles away from me. In n Out is based in California but word of mouth got its name over here. I long for the day that I can try a Double, Double Animal Style. YouTube has a bunch of videos of guys eating 20x20s and such. The fact that there are no locations in New York makes the hunt for In n Out that much greater!

Sonic Drive In
There are so many commercials for Sonic and yet there are none in my area. There aren't even any Sonics in the areas next to my area. It literally haunts my dreams! (Yes, I did have a dream about going to Sonic!) That's definitely a message right there that I should venture into the toxic waste land that is New Jersey just for some Sonic. There's also a novelty factor to eating at a drive-in. Something about a tray full of food hanging outside my window speaks to me.

Red RobinTechnically, Red Robin is a chain restuarant but I'd still love for a location near me. I've actually had Red Robin before, and from my memory it was delicious! I had the Chili Chili Cheeseburger. Upon visiting the website, I saw that they no longer carried this item anymore. It was a basic cheeseburger with chipotle mayo, diced red onion and homemade chili. In other words, it was a terrific foodgasm in my mouth! Again, no Red Robins in New York State. I had to go to Utah for my Chili Chili Cheeseburger.
Have you ever been to any of these burger places? Doesn't New York deserve some fine grub?!

We have all three here in California. But man, In N Out is delicious. And animal-style anything is the best drunk food you will ever eat.
That said though, the West Coast will trade you In N Out for White Castle.
ughh again with the jersey trash talking.
say what you want but i get sonic whenevs i want. AND cheaper gas.
oh the perks of living on the new york/new jersey border.
Sonic is the best...I don't have one here in Northeastern Ohio, and theres no Red Robin or In n Out here either.
NYC already has awesome places (I'm a New Yorker so I'm bias) but they arent big names. Since there are big name places, I'd say yeah they should come. I havent eaten In n' Out but I heard good things about it, Sonics is AWESOME, I've never heard of Red Robin until like 2 years ago though.
Some places are also in LI or Queens, sometimes you gotta go out for good food but it's worth it.
Have you tried Checkers? There's one in LI. The fries are enough reason to go, even if it's an out of the way drive.
I want Sonic so bad ;__; why must they torture us with their commercials.. ?!
Gotta come to Socal for the In-N-Out! They're a family franchise or something
lmao i always see these restaurants at the top of the lists for fattiest/unhealthiest whatevers.
in n out is the beeeeesssssst!.sorry I'm a cali girl
@snapeful@xanga - not a family franchise, they are all over the west coast, you can find them in nocal too
see you forgot one ...five guys and fries is an eastcoast thing, and you have definitely got to try it out, I'm from california, and i have to say that five guys and fries can definitely compete w/ in n out
@TwStD_BiTeS@xanga - but socal's weather is better xD
in-n-out burger is amazing, so is sonic.
but red robin is really nasty.eww red robin is so bad!
They have this local diner place and their food is AMAZING especially their burgers!! I've been to that diner about 20times... ALLL which I was hungover~! haha
in addition to being an arrogant new yorker, you are also a stupid one as well.
nyc has the finest restaurants in the nation (if not the world) and you're complaining that there are no good burger joints?
have you not been to minetta tavern? shake shack? all great establishments.
there's even a five guys in the city.
stop your whining and go out and do your due diligence.
jersey isn't a toxic wasteland. as a former native new yorker, i like jersey very much.
I don't see the Jersey bashing in this post. Is it implied?
Anyway, I've had In-N-Out and there are Sonic and Red Robin places around too but I haven't been to them. I'm not much of a burger fanatic, so whatever's closest is fine. Usually In-N-Out. I want to try White Castle though. Which is precisely what I'm going to do when I go to the East Coast.
I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE RED ROBIN.
hahaha
@ScrapPaper@xanga - I'm actually a big fan of Shake Shack. And the New Jersey thing was just a joke. Fact though, New Jersey has 108 toxic waste lands.
@h20poloplayinsurfer@xanga - Five Guys, yummo! We've already got it here, though.
@Stephanie - O well didn't know for sure why if they had it, i know they have down south in virginia and maryland, didn't know about nyc. thanks for the heads up
@tokyoexpressman@xanga - ewww you can take it. haha
@Stephanie - this you kid right? polluted gowanus canal. rats size of cats. roaches size of potato chips. and nyc shares the same filthy water of nj.
Sonic is not that great. We just got one here a year ago and everyone was obsessing over it. I've been there twice since. Last time my burger was soggy, thin, and disgusting.
we don't really have the need for drive thrus here..
but yeah we do need better burger places, whatever isn't mcdonalds or burger king is so expensive..sonic is gross, red robin is kind of expensive (it's almost like a sit-down place here in N.C.) and I've never been to in 'and out burger, though it looks like a Chargrill or Cook-out (both burger places).
SONIC IS THE BEST THING ON EARTH! and my closest is about 3 hours away :( so so sad. the only thing i look forward to about visiting my grandpa in arkansas is the fact that ARKANSAS of all places has a sonic in every town.
Here's the thing about Sonic: it's all hype. I've been there a handful of times, and have never had anything overly satisfying. When they first brought one to Columbus there were lines out onto the main streets of people waiting to get there. Once all the hype died down and people actually ate the food, they went back to going to Wendys and BK and McDonalds. Sonic has a couple of cool specialty items, but outside of that it's weak.
I'm fairly sure there are 100 better burger places than Red Robin in NYC. Not that Red Robin is bad, but come on; it's NYC.
@tokyoexpressman@xanga - Everyone who lives here on the East that is from the West would disagree with you. White Castle is about the lowest of the low on the "burger" food chain (if you wanna call slyders "burgers"). We don't even like it out here! The only people out East that actually consider going are either drunk or stoned. Seriously drunk or stoned.
