The past few months have been a time of turmoil, crisis and uncertainty... on late-night television. Then, suddenly, this Super Bowl ad came out of nowhere and knocked people out of their seats:
Does this mean that Dave and Jay have made amends? I doubt it. However, according to this article, their feud may not go as deep as it seems. Personally, I was absolutely shocked by this commercial, and I nearly died laughing. This was definitely my favorite commercial of the night.
I dont care if they kill each other - If the ratings get low enough .... They just might .
It would of been funnier if Conan was in it also. But it was funny.
@Randy7777@xanga - I read somewhere that they considered that but it didn't work out for some reason. Letterman actually wrote the commercial, so I'm sure he tried. The fact that Conan is iced until later this year was probably the biggest obstacle.
when this whole late night battle started, the minute everyone began villain-izing jay i felt this vibe like it was all a bit fake, like they decided together that jay would play the villain, conan would be the defenseless innocent one we all root for, and letterman would be the one with a grudge, like they do in pro-wrestling.
so i don't think they're real enemies or friends, and i'm ok with all the fakeness. jay's better at being a villain than he is at being funny, so...yeah
Honestly, I thought it was hysterical. I was laughing for sure :)
They probably got paid a lot of money and their publicists thought it would be good PR.
we all yelled "fuck jay leno!" and drank. oh superbowl.
Haha I liked this one a lot. Letterman ftw
I failed to really find any humor in that commercial. That and I hate Letterman. Mostly cuz he's just not funny.
