Radio is dead. All the songs suck and now that we all have ways of listening to our ipods in the car there is absolutely no situation in which you'll be forced to listen to the radio (well, once your battery dies, but that's life). Replacing radio seems to be a more grassroots, on demand form of radio that perfectly fits the internet age. Podcasting.
Podcasting has been a popular thing for I would say 2-3 years now, but they just keep on growing. I know my daily commutes and even time at work were often filled with podcasts. If I need to grab a bite to eat by myself, I'll bring my ipod and listen to podcasts. Anytime where I'm pretty much on my own and bored, it's either music or podcasts.
But I'm not really sure how far the trend reaches. Every few months or so I'll read another trend piece on podcasts, but I don't really know anyone in real life that listens to them other than me. So, are they really that big? It's not like there's any podcasts getting millions of listeners out there.
So, I guess I just have to ask you, my little Mancouchlings ....
Do you listen to any podcasts?

I listen to a couple special interest podcasts from time to time, but nothing on a super regular basis.
I listen to a few. Radiolab (you can find it at http://www.wnyc.org/shows/radiolab/) is my absolute favorite.
Kevin & Bean show. I only listen to the morning show because the station is very
repetitious with their music playlist. Or my idol, Adam Carolla. I hate on KROQ, everytime the dj speaks on a song, they must alway say "On the world Famous KROQ" Like we don't know what station we're listening to.

Yeah I listen to a couple of podcasts. Mostly sqpn catholic podcasts and a blues music podcast called "Texas Blues Cafe."
I listen to quite a few, actually. I prefer the casts targeted toward gamers or Mandarin things to help me further my learning.
I have yet to hop on that trolley. Plus I don't care to own an iPod.
i listen to podcasted lectures when i don't go to class.
The Moth is pretty sweet
Prairie Home Companion- I'm soooo there. I also listen to the Wait Wait Don't Tell Me podcasts. Dork extreme over here!
Smodcast is fucking brilliant.
For everyone who is a fan of Kevin Smith.
Tiesto's Club Life all day long, than Above & Beyond: Trance Around the World and A State of Trance...... you could say i like trance somewhat
This American Life and Ricky Gervais
I listen to old Loveline episodes with Dr. Drew and Adam Carolla. :]
Of course.
i honestly have never been able (or inclined) to figure out what podcasts are. for real, i have no idea. simply baffles me.
i never bought an itrip, and then recently had my ipod stolen, so i still listen to the radio in the car when my CDs are failing me.I've listened to HIM's Podcasts. That's about it.
And there's still some good radio stations here in Philly.

i don't listen to the radio, i don't listen to podcasts either. they're all a bunch of talking about inane shit, and if the radio sucks, why would podcasts be any better?
The Complete Guide to Everything*, The Lesbian Mafia, and The Planet: The Podcast for L Word Fans.
Loooove.
Bah, of course there's still good radio! You just have to dig around for it. :)
But as for podcasts... NPR's All Songs Considered and Grammar Girl.
Yes. MuggleCast, Smart Mouths, The Lone Conservative, Army Study Guide and The Prestige Vocabulist
I listen to "Sex is Fun". Well, I used to. But then my iPod got stolen and I didn't get a new one until a few days ago. And this new iPod came from the pawn shop and didn't come with a charger. So, I still can't listen to my favorite Podcast =(
I see mentions of iPods like those are necessary for podcasts. I listen to them on my computer. I am subscribed to:
Buzz Out Loud
The 404
Inside Cnet Labs
No Agenda
Dogma Free America
Skeptoid
Skeptics Guide to the Universe
Interestingly enough, in the car I tend to use terrestrial radio. Jack FM is pretty good.
I have to say that for the most part, I dislike podcasts. It's pretty much exactly like radio, minus the commericals and adverising the show almost the entire thing (from the couple I've listened to). If I wanted to adverising, I'd listen to the radio.
For my day, I listen to Kiss FM in the morning for talk (a lot about sex early in the morning--haha). In the afternoon, I tend to go my iPod. I just got an iTrip for Christmas. I'm still working out the right station so the iTrip plays my music.
I'm the type of person to keep my talk radio shows away from my iPod. I want to keep my iPod for nothing but my music.
@MissPixieGlitter@xanga - are they interesting lectures?
itunes u is a great source of information. plus podcasts can be very informative.
i like the "Things you missed" series. and how stuff works series. anything to expand my horizon. berkeley university has very interesting history lecture series. you can find anything and everything on itunes. also if you enjoy podcasts, try listening to audiobooks. they can be found for free at your local libraries. i have listened to appx. 70 books in a span of two months.
