  • The Triple C Trifecta: The Turducken Of Desserts

My friends and I set about an epic quest: incorporating the Triple C Trifecta of sugary goodness [cake + cookie + candy] into one beautiful, monstrous creation.  The idea was to make a house-shaped yellow cake frosted with nutella, build a gingerbread house around it, and decorate with candies.  This was the end product:

These are the steps we took in making it:

    Making the cake:

Four walls of the house assembled around a square section of layered and frosted cake:

Pyramidal cake piece to complete the cake-house [it split and had to be frosted back together]:

Roof attached, tree assembled, gingerbread inhabitants added. *Everything covered in frosting and candy*
The "snowy lawn" is marshmallow fluff

Close-up of the gay gingerbread couple [Hans & Fernando] and their pet cat [Mortimer]:

The whole thing covered in shredded coconut "snow"

Yes, the workmanship is awful. We're not very good bakers and none of us know how to work a piping bag. But still: delicious win!

What's the craziest thing you've ever made?
