So I was thinking that we need more funny in the world. Lots more. Upon pondering this revelation I eventually ended up with a list of my 5 favorite comedians for the benefit of all them people on the internet who actually care. So here is that very list, for your viewing pleasure, with quotes!
5. Aziz AnsariThis guy is hilarious. He's been in a couple of good movies such as Funny People and I Love You Man, along with a couple episodes of Scrubs, but it's his standup routine which is best.

4. Adam SandlerSo I'll admit that I'm not the biggest fan of his most recent films, but the old ones are classic. I defy anyone to not like Happy Gilmore or Billy Madison. He is also in Funny People, and while it is good to see him venture back from children's movies, it was a lot more serious than his other stuff.

3. Barney StinsonWhile some people (the non-believers) may proclaim relentlessly that Barney Stinson is a fictional character (scoff now), it would not change the fact that this man is de- wait for it... lightful. Delightful. Jokes, he's legendary. But seriously, NPH is awesome.
"You dumped a porn star? Friendship over."
Second favorite stand up comic ever, I think this man speaks for himself. No matter what I see him on.
"Four people clapping sounds like a cow shitting... so all clap together or not at all."
1. Arj Barker
He's a fucking legend, what more can I say? The comic genius that is Arj Barker can't be overlooked in this list, I honestly think he rivals George Carlin, who is by no means over rated. And if it wasn't enough that this man was inducing uncontrollable laughter on the stage, he went and made the funniest cartoon since Johnny Bravo. Arj and Poopy. Classic.
"No I did not bring the weather with me. They won't even let me bring a candy bar into this country, how are they going to feel about a low pressure system? Is that going to be on the card at the airport? "Do you have any plants or animals?" "No." "Do you have over $25000?" "No" "Do you have any tropical storms?" "...Shit." Stay down, Stevo."

@TheGiantSlayer@xanga - I don't really think so. You may not like him that much personally, but in the grand scheme of things, he's one of the best. You have to look at popularity, and not just currently. He's been a mainstream name since the 70's. There haven't been that many people to stay modern and funny for 30+ years. If he's overrated, than so is Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, and Tom Waits.

My favourite comedians are Lee Evans, Michael McIntyre, Billy Connolly & Adam Sandler. You're right though his older movies are just classic. Billy Madison was brilliant.
Frank Woodley! Wil Anderson is pretty funny as well, so are Adam Hills, Colin Lane and Chas Licciardello and Andrew Hansen from CNNNN/Chaser's War on Everything.
