The Beastie Boys - Open Letter To NYC
Speaking of New York Anthems, here is one from those nice jewish boys from the city, The Beastie Boys. It's off their very NYC centric album, To The 5 Boroughs. It was a favorite of mine at the time. It was really the first song that seemed to be about getting over 9/11. No, not to forget it, but to say that we've dealt with the trauma and it's time to move on. That spoke to me. Will it do the same for you?
Thumbs up or Thumbs down?

I love the Beastie Boys, iconic and legendary group. This song was really good. Thumbs up definitely.
Two thumbs up! I've always loved the Beastie Boys. That and they went through an incredible journey from being young, dumb, full of c*m to responsible, intelligent, men. "Open Letter to NYC" is a perfect example of their transformation to adulthood. And they touch the 9/11 subject with respect. You can literally hear the love they have for the city and feel the need to move on.
I've never understood why anyone likes the Beastie Boys. Their vocals are like fingernails on a chalk board. That, and their style sound very similar to some late Anthrax songs.
thumbs down
Good stuff. Love those guys.
Thumbs up for the Beatie Boys, no question.
On the anniversary of 9/11, I play that song loud and proud because I am a New Yorker at heart.
"Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens and Staten
From the Battery to the top of Manhattan
Asian, Middle-Eastern and Latin
Black, White, New York you make it happen"
I like this. My thumbs are up like an involuntary reflex.
Great album! I can't believe it didn't get more airplay. Possibly my favorite BB.
There is such a few amount of people who don't like, sort of rediculous...all their music is great, and videos make it greater.
Two thumbs up, another anthem to the great NYC.
yes ten times a million..... thumbs up .
