Hire Me. Please.
Getting a job is just annoying. It's not fun, or enjoyable, or anything. It is all hard work, e-mails, uncertainty, and rejection. I can't do anything, because I'm too busy refreshing my e-mail, the help wanteds, and then constantly checking my cell phone for messages. I just end up feeling useless and helpless.
It doesn't have to be this way. I think this whole "finding a job" system we have in this country needs to be overhauled. Why should I have to put forth effort, or be a go-getter? Fuck that, I went to college, I already put my time in.
This is what I think should happen. Instead of all of us unemployed people, applying for job after job, not hearing back, not knowing if we will get it, the employers should have to apply to us.
Look, I bring a lot to the table. I've got plenty of experience, I'm a hard-worker, I'm friendly, I have a good sense of humor. I can say with confidence that I would be an asset to nearly any workplace.
I think that potential employers should know this. They should be the ones surfing craigslist and saying, "oh wow, this one looks really good". They should e-mail me. Then, every morning I will wake up, and sift through the various job offers that I have received. If I like one, I can follow up, ask them to my house for an interview. Anything I don't want goes in the trash.
Man, that sounds amazing. But alas, it is just a dream and the cold reality of the situation is that I still don't have a job, and I am running out of money. So, if you'll excuse me, I've got another long day of waiting and then ultimately rejection to look forward to.
Until next time,
RizzoP.S. If you live in New York City and you want to hire me, I'm young, hard-working, and ruthlessly good-looking.

hahahah if only :)
I know how you feel. I too am digging through various job searching sites, and finding way too many places that are looking for God-like creatures with a gazillion years of experience, and specializing in blowjobs, er... sucking up and the like. Argh.
Ruthlessly good-looking? LOL. I'll hire you to clean my apartment if you accept gum as payment.
I'm with you 100% on this. I've been actively, desperately seeking work for almost two solid years now since I finished college. I too bring a lot to the table - hard working, very smart, learn fast, love working in a fast-paced environment on a team, working with the public...I've applied to everything in the Atlanta area, with the exception of stripper, ho, and drug dealer...not that you really apply for those as far as I know, ha. Anyway, I've actually had to go on anti-anxiety medication just to deal with this whole job search thing, I've had countless interviews with no further communication, so many of them tell me "you'd be perfect for this job, but we just filled the last available position. We will keep your resume on file for 90 days and if someone quits, we will definitely call you..." and no further communication. I finally do have one to look forward to now though - K-Mart. Part-time. Minimum wage. And I know enough to be a web developer and make $50K+ per year. At least this is something though. I'm really excited and optimistic about it. I start on Sunday!
you should put ferociously good looking hah!
@Athlyx@xanga - Sold.
Time to use that sandwich 'HIRE ME' boards.
NYC runs on nepotism.
Maybe you will have better luck if you state what your skills are and past experience.
As an employer, I wouldn't go on "hardworking" on a resume.
What's your track record like? Any proven achievements?
you're silly. :D
i wish you the best of luck.
You are my new hero! I couldn't have said it any better myself. I understand where you're coming from....I had endure that over the summer/spring. It's not fun, but hang in there, someone will hire you!
maybe if things were better in the nation, to the point where enough jobs were hiring (the type of high-level jobs with degree requirements, etc...).... this would work.
notso though. we unemployed's outnumber 'em...
