  • I Love My Car

    (Source)

Ahh there she is.  My baby.  Go ahead and take a good look.  Nice, right?

No, no.  Not the girl, behind the girl.  That's right, the car.  Yeahhhhh.  That's what I'm talking about right there.  I worked seven long, overtime filled years bagging groceries to afford that bad-boy right there.  It was worth every second.  Made a lot of sacrifices and just kept saving up.  Now she's mine.  All mine.

Aww, who the fuck am I kidding.  I don't drive a Chevy Stingray.  I drive a 1995 green Ford Escort Station wagon.  It looks a little something like this:

Now, you'll notice that there is not a scantily-clad woman dry-humping the hood.  That's because scantily-clad women don't usually dry-hump the hoods of cars like these.

But you know what?  I don't care.  I love my car.  In fact, even if you did offer me a shiny new Corvette, I might turn you down.

Sure my car might not have the horsepower, and sure the muffler is being held on by a combination of wire and duct tape.  So what if the heat doesn't work, and neither do any of the lights on the dashboard?  And who cares if there are dents on every side of the car, the floor on the passenger side is missing, and none of the seatbelts work?  None of that matters because my car has got it where it counts.  It's got soul.

It's taken me everywhere I've ever wanted to go.  It's seen me laugh, it's seen my cry.  I've slept in it, it's driven me halfway across the country more times than I care to count.  I'm going to be behind of the wheel of that thing until that day it dies.  Or I die.  Whichever comes first.

And when it's finally ready to go, I'm going to drive it right up to the edge of a cliff.  I'm going to get her going, drop a brick on the gas, open the door and tuck and roll.  And that thing is just going to go flying off the edge of a cliff and into a better place.

LOL! ... no, i don't have a beater... i have an orange sport 2009 Honda Fit... which i love to pieces :)

  • salvatruca_stalking_havok13@xanga

I don't have a car as I can't drive so I'm forced to use public transportation; however, I'm not about to sing the praises of a bus that doesn't know how to arrive urine-free and on time. :\

  • KimisBarbie@xanga

i did :(   A red 91' camaro rs.  Looks cool, but runs like shit.
my husband drives it now, and i have a newer car, that i can actually count on.

I used to drive a 2004 BMW M3 convertible. Im not complaining, I had fun, and I like the 2004 explorer I have now...but I will have an M3 again, that's for sure.

"it will be mine, oh yes..."

A '95 Chrysler LeBaron named 'Lady Baron'. Everytime it rained my passenger seat would be soaked as well as the driver's seat, the front floor (passenger & driver) and rear floor. She had the transmission patched once then completely rebuilt, two starters put in and a brand new battery. She guzzled gas like a champ and ended up with a huge crack in the windshield.

Despite my profound love for the lady, I was sick of sinking money into her and only having a wet ass in the end. I now drive an '09 Saturn Aura.

  • of_such_a_prodigious_paradox@xanga

'93 Nissan Maxima. The seatbelt sensor was busted, so every once and a while it would ring for about 2-3 minutes, presumably telling me to put my seatbelt on.

Had to replace the battery in it twice, the second time I replaced it I got it free because the battery (brand new) froze not a month after I got it... and both times I had to change the battery with failing sunlight and no gloves in rapidly dropping sub zero temperatures. You could call me stupid for not having gloves, but I didn't choose the time and place for the car to fail, nor for it to use a battery holding system that required dexterity (i.e. can't use normal deep winter gloves)

The engine was unbalanced, one of the cylinders was firing wrong, had to fix that, there was a gas leak in the line from the gas tank, had to fix that, and it all came to a head when the break line busted, leaving me without breaks on a highway. Thankfully, there was enough fluid to get me stopped.

I loved the old girl, but boy she did everything in her power to have me give her up.

Well my car isn't a beater but it isn't really expensive either. It's an '08 Chevy Aveo hatch back. I love her! I have yet to drive really far with my car yet, but I plan on going somewhere far away someday.

It has a lot of luxuries, such as power windows, heat, a/c, aux hookup, cd player, folding rear seats, and it smells nice!

I love my car, and I'll drive her until she dies... which I hope is a long way away.

ps: My boyfriend's old car was a '97 saturn... the heat didn't work, there were missing hubcaps, we hydroplaned in it before, the seals on the doors weren't a 100%, but some how that old beast made it on two 24 hour trips [from Ontario to Nova Scotia and back] in the winter with all of the snow and ice that Canadian winters are known for. Although the windows did frost over on the inside, the heat stopped working then, and the glass on the passenger side mirror fell off. It was awesome! I loved that car.

Love my car. Nissan Ultima (cwutididthar). 96.

It's falling apart, but I can't see myself driving any other car.

I've yet to see someone dry hump my stingray. Maybe if didn't have four flat tires and had driveable paperwork.

At least it's a nice driveway decoration?

Yay, I'm not the only one that's deeply attached to a car.  Zeus is a 2005 Toyota Camry and I absolutely adore him.  I've been in and driven better cars but none of those bring me as much joy and comfort as Zeus. =)

  • complicatedlight@xanga

    shades of harold and maude.

  • yukarimayhem@xanga

bahahaha hot new car for me anyday

  • mewithoutu77@xanga

my gramps is really into his beater cars because he spends so much time into it.  some of his beater vehicles run better than brand new vehicles because he rebuilds the whole engine if it fails.

  • WhenHateIsTheOnlyOption@xanga

I don't own a car but I would love anything that could get me somewhere fast but I think the reason why I have a slim physique because I walk and don't drive.

  • SykoA@xanga

I had a sweet '98 Pontiac Sunfire, the volume only went up on the radio, the gas tank said it had an eighth of a tank when it was empty, and it had dents and scratches all over, But Damn I loved that car.

  • rawriez@xanga

'04 Ford Fiesta. Sure I've crashed it heaps of times and it's got dents and scratches all over. But I love it. Been thinking about upgrading, but I just can't do it, the car means too much to me.

  • kaylamae31@xanga

I have a '99 Ford Escort.. its a crappy car, but I love it :)

  • milfncookies@xanga

I loooooved my '71 Datsun 521 pick-up, Got it for $100 at a junkyard, best $100 ever--even when I was a back stabber and sold it for $2500...but still!

  • JonHsiung@xanga

@imTHEmeowMIXcat@xanga - E46 M3 convertible?!  Me too! Getting it back from the shop tomorrow morning.

And as to the point of this thread, my daily-driven beater is a 1996 Nissan Maxima with a dent on the roof, dead cd changer, and the body panels aren't all straight. And I love it.  I might even drive it to Vegas this weekend. Best $1800 I've ever spent from a Craigslist ad.

haha i enjoyed this. my car isn't a beater, but she's not really a head-turner either. i have an 09  hyundai accent, and she's been pushed to her limits.

she's no speed demon but i can't tell you how many tickets my friends have gotten for speeding in her.

but she's been all over the east coast, and got me from tucson, az to baltimore, md in two days. she was assaulted by a deer (we didn't hit the deer, it truly did hit us.) and sustained such little damage that even the repair guys were surprised considering a now dead deer was involved. we've launched her over hills and gotten three feet of air. we've done mild off-roading (she's no jeep or truck so i don't push her limits) she's been my, and many friends', means of escape from stresses of life, and has been on more therapy drives than i can count. she's heard a lot of secrets, a lot of tears. my friends have gotten countless tickets driving her, and she's been there for two arrests (not mine btw).

i put 43k miles on that baby (ridiculously insane, i know and i've cut down a lot) but every mile has been a memory. i guess i don't treat her with the respect that she deserves, but i love my car to death. afterall, she's my first. it's gonna be a sad day when we finally have to part ways, even though it'll probably be years from now.

  • SJay1@xanga

The only mode of transport I can currently afford is a skateboard...

  • imTHEmeowMIXcat@xanga

@JonHsiung@xanga - Oh you lucky guy...I miss that car even more now!

  • positioningoranges@xanga

    i have a toyota raum.
    the interior's kinda peeling,
    the radiator's has rust,
    the thermometer might be broken.

    it's not terrible,
    but it's not the best.

i still love it, though. :D

  • omigosh_music_is_my_life@xanga

i love my fiancĂ©'s car (: she's a 94 firebird firehawk <3 gracie is her name! :D some parts of her are held together by tape, we just got her windshield wipers to work again, and she has other problems that i don't quite understand, but we're never letting go of her ever <3

  • Gasflame@xanga

That's the exact way I felt about my van that I drove the first 3 years of my driving life. I won the 'worst vehicle' award my senior year of high school and got in the yearbook. It was an 86' ford extended conversion econoline van. It got terrible gas milage (about 8-12 on the highway), had 2 gas tanks, was starting to rust. The enginge was a V8 and ran great, I could still pwn most cars when they tried to race me. It was pretty easy to park too...course maybe I just knew how to park it.

We just sold it maybe a month ago. :(

It had seen me at my best and seen me at my worst. Taken me across the country and to crowded cities filled with little box cars (haha that was fun btw...0.o). It had been smoked in, drank in, partied in, dealed in, eaten in, camped in, chilled in, dressed in, slept in, but never searched in. It had ran from tornados, been driven through hurricanes, hail, thunder, lightning, and winds that would knock you off your feet. But the van still stood tall. It had broken down only twice on the highway, only had 144k miles on it. It was decked out with a couch in back, CB radio, killer sound system, KC headlights, outlets in the wall so you could bring your ps2 and a TV and play away while driving down the road. Never been caught speeding in it. The speedometer only went up to 85, but that didn't mean it couldn't go faster :D It had been to so many concerts you couldn't even begin to count.

I loved that van with all my heart and soul. There were so may memories stacked in the walls and in the floor. I grew up with that van in my life since I was born. My family and I traveled everywhere in that thing, and then I got to drive it for myself and installed more memories in it. I got in my first accident in that thing and proved that Toyotas really are made of tinfoil ( my breaks stopped working and I slammed into the back of a Toyota camery..6,000 later they got it fixed) I cried the day it was sold. :( My friends have told me that they have seen it around town, I have yet to, but when I do, I'm going to follow it. I will have that van back one day...I will.

Don't get me wrong, I love my new car. Last year I bought an 07' ford focus hatchback and I love it. I plan to drive that thing till the engine just stops working.

The Stingray is my dream car.

My dad has an old Toyota Land Cruiser that has been given a face lift that I seriously will beg him to put in his will as mine. Or just sell it to me. He has tried to sell it in the past and I would bawl my eyes out because it is wonderful even if it is a loud farting machine with poor safety standards. I have a thousand good childhood memories in the vehicle. My first car was a crappy 91 Civic, I loved that car too, it was mine. It didn't matter that it was a little rusty, shook at 90km and was the laughing stock of friends (who were jealous, because I owned a civic and who doesn't love a civic?) I loved that car. Sadly it was sent to an early grave this year when a wind storm dropped a branch on it.
