YES!
(Source)
Did you ever notice a moment like this before? A moment where you're watching a movie for the first time, and after seeing it, it leaves this big impact on your mind because of something dealing with its story and message? I had one of those moments tonight. The movie I was watching, funny enough, was Yes Man with Jim Carrey. Yes, it's a comedy, and you're probably wondering how on Earth it could possibly influence me, but let me tell you, it most certainly did, and I will tell you how...
The movie, in case you haven't seen it, is about this man (Jim Carrey) who is having a hard time moving on with his life from his divorce a couple years back. Not emotionally trying to move on with it, but just moving on in general. He does the same routine every single day, and it's almost to the point where he's like a robot. Well, one day he goes to a seminar that teaches him that he must say "Yes" to every question and opportunity he is given. Some of the opportunities he encounters is going bungee-jumping, a Harry Potter themed party, amongst other things. (This story is starting to remind me of Stranger Than Fiction... No wonder I like it, haha.) Anyhow, that's pretty much how the whole movie goes... His life changing after the seminar.
Well, the more I watched it, the more I realized that, well, wow, I really do not participate much in my life at all. I mean I have gotten more involved with activities and everything around me, but I haven't really tried out anything new that I really wanted to do. I also started thinking back to my mom. She's 41 this year, and she just got her black belt in Tae Kwan Do this month because, well, she wanted to. She's out and about, trying new crazy things, and just exploring everything. It makes me start to wonder, "Can I do that, too?" Here's someone in real life who is actually going after what she wants. It's amazing to me. So, with that in mind, I am going to make a blog entry of a list of all the things I want to do in my life before I die (but with the idea in mind of doing them as soon as possible). Each time I complete something, I will cross it off the list, and if I find new things that I want to do, then I will add them to the list.
If you want to join the experiment and start your own list on your blog, please feel free to join. Maybe we can even start a blogring for it. The DOers Group, The Yes Group, or something just as cheesy as that. I think the more people that are involved with this, the more we will push each other to accomplish the goals that we want to complete.
So... What do you say??

The procrastinator's plea:
Eventually...
Yeah, baby.
Yup
Yes...yes....oooh YESSSSS!! [orgasmic]
Read "Yes Man" the book! (it's better than the movie) It will help you stay inspired to say yes.
No.

Very cool.
I don't think the movie is actually about doing things you want to do before you die, that sounds more like a bucket list to me.
So maybe it might actually be better to create a list of things you've done each day that you wouldn't have initially said "yes" to prior to being inspired?
Just my take.
i LOVE that movie! <3 i could watch it again...and again, and again...and...
no to body skating, yes to taking pictures while jogging.
The idea is good but the movie was slightly disturbing (grandma sex scene) and really awful
Oh, yes. If he asks me out on a date: I'll say Yes. Yes, yes, yes, yes
this movie had a big effect on me too actually. i find myself thinking about it every so often. i think it's a really good way to live, and i think i've been slacking. gotta get my 'no girl' on.
you should watch the bucket list too.
i made one when i was 16. since then i've been skydiving, in a helicopter, gotten my motorcycle license, went on a eurotrip, saw the packers play at lambeau. life is good when u set goals, no matter how big or small. now i'm training to run a marathon. wish me luck!
@crazygrampastuey@xanga - I heard there was a book and wanted to check it out. I'll be sure to put it on the list, haha.
@WhatizthisMadness@xanga - I actually have seen The Bucket List, and true, yes, it works for this idea as well. That's very cool that you're getting very involved with your life and trying all those things! I wish you luck with the Marathon!
@dianchik_icons@xanga - I do agree with you on the grandma sex scene... It freaked me out a bit as well... Eek.
@RazorBladeParade@xanga - I can see your point on that. After I took that into consideration after re-reading this post, it did start to occur to me as being one. I think it could inspire either a bucket list or just a "motiviation for life". It all depends on the perspective you take on it, but you do have a valid point. I will keep that in mind as well. Thanks! :)
