  • Readers, where is your ass parked?

If you're like me, you spend at least a few hours every day staring at a computer screen, perusing the web for ideas, news, and responding to messages. This, I feel, is pretty standard 21st century behavior. Computers and productivity have basically become synonymous, and as such, we require a comfortable place to sit while we do our work.

Even the name of this website, Mancouch, speaks to the idea that where we sit is an important part of who we are. Well, it got me thinking - where do we all park our respective asses when we sit down to use the old abacus? I think it breaks down into a few different categories.

    1. Desk / Office Chair - If your butt is in one of these, congratulations - we have something in common. A comfy, fake-leather office chair is nothing to scoff at. It's got everything a person needs to stay supported and comfortable at their desk: arm rests, lumbar support, good padding all around, and adjustable height. Frankly, I get everything done in this chair, from schoolwork, to blogging, straight to video gaming and movie watching. It's nothing fancy, but it gets the job done, and...it has WHEELS!

    2. The Couch - Laptops have made it possible to do most, if not all computing tasks from just about anywhere - so why get up from your living-room throne? After all, there's probably an imprint in that couch with your name on it, making it that much more comfortable. Personally, I find the couch a less productive place to work than a desk, but it works in a pinch, and it's fine if you're just screwing around.

    3. Starbucks - What is it with that place anyway? When did it become trendy to hang out at a coffee shop with your laptop all day and pretend you're doing something really important? Still, many of them have some pretty comfortable seating options, and it's hard to fault their selection of beverages and snacks.

    4. The Toilet - Well, if you take Rizzo's recent post into account, the toilet seems like almost the perfect place to do just about everything. Again, the versatility of laptops makes the toilet a viable place to peruse Facebook, play with Photoshop filters or write the great American novel, all while taking a deuce. Can't go wrong there.

So I ask you, Mancouch readers, as you're reading this, where are your blog-loving behinds right now?
