Next week a new Vampire flick called
Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant is coming out. The ads are all over the place.
I have one request: STOP IT!
There are too many Vampire movies! And there are more on the way. Have you been to the movies lately? Half the previews are for new vampire movies. How many vampire movies can you possibly make?
Well, if you read the title, you're probably wondering where the Nazis come in. Well, there are too many Nazi movies as well (and this was a problem long before Edward stalked Bella and told her that he has a small heroin problem that he really needs to get treatment for, but methadone clinics close too early).
Every award season (November-December) there is a new slate of Nazi movies coming out, desperately trying to win an oscar. And each year people care less and less because, you know, we get it. Nazis = Evil, Some Nazis = Heart of Gold, Holocaust = Bad, WWII = Hard, American Soldiers = Heroes, blah blah blah blah. It's all been done before, and it's been done to death.
I have a strict policy about not going to any Nazi movies (I made an exception for Inglourious Basterds because it's actually a different and interesting take on the whole thing, it's theatrical, you know, like a movie) and now I have a new rule about Vampire movies because Vampires are the new Nazis.
We get it already. There's always a Vampire movie coming out every one in a while, which is fine. But this new onslaught is just ridiculous. All the movies blend into each other and I just don't care anymore.
So, please Hollywood, stop ruining Vampires. I'm looking, at you Twilight, with your puss Vamps and anti-sex message.
Are Vampires the new Nazis?

Agreed.
If someone asks me one more time if I've seen the latest episode of The Vampire Diaries, I will burn their Twilight books.
Hollywood will do anything to make money and appeal to the largest section of the population. Yesterday it was Nazis, today its vampires and tomorrow... who knows!?
If you get angry about movies, try going to the book store. They have a whole section of vampire books that are knock off's of Twilight as well as equally lame.
These people have to go see the original vampire film: Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror.
Don't you just hate it when as soon as movies or a trend gets popular, in comes either followers or something close to that trend?
I hate vampires!
Love Nazi movies though.
I like the Underworld series though. Yum, Werewolves. Vamps are lame.
what's also annoying is, all vampires are "pale", sensitive and brooding, and are just looking to be loved.
I can't wait for a movie where all vampires do is trick people and eat them - there's only like, 3 of those.
Cirque Du Freak is a wonderful series that I really enjoyed reading since I was in Junior High..that was 7 or 8 years ago...I'm thrilled they've made it into a movie because the series is about 12 books long, gory, shocking, and with more than a couple of "holy shit!" moments..it was a verrrrrry pleasing series that I was sad to see end. I'm sure the author (Darren Shan) was very happy with all the vampire attention his series got and is cheering that it is a movie. Yea the vampire trend is annoying but its just that...a trend.
America will find something else to overdue eventually..just give it time.
DON'T STOP IT! I love Darren Shan! I have for like 6 years. I've been waiting for them to make a movie for like 4 years.
Vampires are alright... the books are good... it's the stupid fucking people who make it annoying. How about we stop all of the fangirls? That would be better.
I used to be a Vampire buff! I love and own all of Buffy, and I loved Interview with a Vampire, but come twilight and now there's 16 million vampire movies, shows, books, t-shirts, mugs, and dog chew toys out! I just hole up in my apartment with my Buffy DVD's and enjoy the vampire show before vampires were "super-cool"!
Vampires and twilight need to die, now.
Unless we get lots of nudes of Ashley Greene in the future.
Well, what'd you expect from Hollywood? They make money from trends and with Twilight's bullshit vamps paving the way, I doubt we'd be seeing an end to vampire movies anytime soon.
U r right.
Great post. =D
@snapeful@xanga - I second that notion. That's one little "vampire" who I'd let bite me anytime and anywhere she wanted.
I dont care honstly...
YES. And, they all have the same message basically, vampires are loving people and NO ONE is as good as them. I mean, it's gets old. Especially twilight. It's everywhere. :O
In just about every vampire movie, they fall in love with that one girl and she falls inversably in love with him. Wouldn't it be funny if they completely twisted it around?
Like.. the male vampire liked a man.
or, the vampire loved a girl who didn't love him
or, the vampire was stalked by a girl who for whatever reason, he couldn't kill her.
I miss the Blade movies.....
@CheckieEatsOrganicPoptarts@xanga - She's the one reason I'd spend my eyeballs and money on vampires.
the cirque du freak books have been out for a really long time. [shrug] i dont see what the big deal is.
@RedZeppelin6@xanga - Yup, Blade kicked vampire ass!
I have always loved vampires. But you are VERY VERY right, there is too many crappy stories about them these days. Kinda takes the mystery and distinctiveness away from them.
I never understood why if someone doesn't like something, they have to complain about it in an over dramatic style and try to ruin it for the people who are enjoying it.
Vampires movies are coming out a lot more recently, yes, but there are other movies coming out, too. And it's October, I'm surprised MORE aren't coming out THIS month alone than there are.
As for Twilight, those are made after books. And if the books weren't written, they probably would not have made the Twilight movies. So, I guess we can't have vampire books anymore, because they will inevitably be turned into vampire movies and they might come out too close together with other vampire movies.
Plus, I don't see the problem with the "anti-sex" thing. Vampires are usually nothing BUT about sex, and I think it is a very interesting diversion from the norm.
That being said, I actually don't like the Twilight movies, I prefer the books. Just like I didn't like the Harry Potter movies, I liked the books. However, I didn't whine in over dramatic fashion about it and try to ruin it for the people who DID like what was coming out. I just quietly didn't go to see them. Or rent them. Or buy them. Or watch them on TV.
I don't mean to be a bitch (though I know I sound like one), so I am going to say that I'm sorry right now for the way this entire comment comes off. But, I do not apologize for the actual opinion. If that makes sense. :/
They sure are. Loving the Twilight interpretation.
I want the evil badass vampires back.
