I'm sure you heard the news about balloon boy at some point yesterday. It was all over the news and these here internets. So you likely came across it at come point.
If you did not, here are the basics of the story.
At some point yesterday a family's experimental balloon shaped like a UFO shot up 20,000 feet over their Colorado neighborhood. It was believed their young son named Falcon (awesome, btw) was in the basket of said balloon.
This quickly captured the country's and internets' cold cold heart.
They tried to send in a helicopter rescue, but the choppers couldn't get too close because they would shred the balloon. Everyone was worried.
Eventually they got the balloon down, but the child wasn't inside. Everyone was more worried.
Everyone thought that he must have fallen out at some point. But nope! Turned out he was hiding in the garage all along. Balloon Boy was safe! Everyone was relieved.
Then in the evening the family went on Larry King Live, being hosted by human beard Wolf Blitzer.
This is when the proverbial shit hit the proverbial fan.
Asked if he heard his parents calling him, young Falcon answered yes. When his parents then asked him why he didn't come running he replied, "You guys said, that, um, we did this for the show." The video evidence is below.
What show do you ask? Perhaps he meant Wife Swap, which the family has already been on twice. Or maybe they were thinking of their own reality show. Regardless, there you have it, folks. Balloon Boy was a scam. You are awful people. The end.
P.S. How much does Wolf Blitzer suck that he rolls over for these clowns? No wonder he can't ask serious questions to politicians, he can't ask serious questions to two-bit frauds and liars.
How awful are these people?: a) ehhh, not that bad b) how dare they use they're son's well-being for self promotion? c) they're worse than carnies. d) why haven't child services been called?
I pick E.) They are just as worthless as the news!
D'OH!!!!! A) ehhh, not that bad. Yeah it was bad if tthey did it for the attention, but..... they didn't really do anything potentially harmful... CPS-worthy....
@nodnarbassoon@xanga - I think distracting emergency services almost all day with a fake emergency was dangerous. And illegal.
This was incredibly selfish. The hilarity is mainly due to the sheer stupidity of the family involved that they would actually do this.
yeah I just saw this. I think the parents of the boy should be made to pay for the rescue effort.
@i_r_keiko@xanga - Yeah, it was incredibly stupid, selfish, and somewhat dangerous... I get your point... but the responses for the poll seem to target the family with child abuse, which does not seem to be what went down. They're just attention whores looking for personal fulfillment. Don't give it to them. At least they're not sicko child abusers, who... idk, beat the kid repeatedly, tied the kid to hang from the balloon because he wouldn't eat his vegetables, and THEN used it for attention...
If this is really the case, the dad and mom are pathetic publicity seekers. It's certainly not fair to the children!
Pathetic!
D!! WTF!! HORRIBLE!
b & d.
these people are fucked up. xo
that's funny they expected a 6 year old to take the blame and lie for them. that worked out really well. haha
That was really awkward to watch. What a weird family those kids are going to grow up in.
Personally...I laughed my ass off.
it would have been a better show if the boy was in the balloon and the balloon never landed
D. Definitely D.
All I can say is...that UFO balloon is cool.
Man, what a waste of a badass name like Wolf Blitzer.
Haha what the hell? First of all.. they can't even keep a straight story. Second of all, they're awesome for having a hot air balloon shaped like a UFO to begin with. Third of all, those parents are media whores.
Wow, what a good kid. Let me have him. Those parents are frauds!
It's such a dumb story, that whole family should see shrinks.
ha, wow. that is just hilarious. they must feel like the biggest dumbasses alive now; then again maybe they'll just enjoy the extra hype their little hoax created.
c - CARNIES ARE AWESOME, don't be ridiculous.
This is why interracial marriages should be banned.
I think it was a mistake on the parents and child's part. I don't believe it was a hoax or a scam or to be on television-again. The balloon was easily accessible to the child which is super dangerous. I was watching the footage on the news and they showed something fall from the balloon as it was high in the sky, I thought it was the kid. It's good he's alive but not cool that the family gets off from the bill.

why are people always so skeptical? i don't understand why people claim its a hoax without getting all the facts first.
