Bar Fight: Bear vs. Tiger
This is the question that has plagued mankind since the very beginning: Who would win in a fight a Bear or a Tiger?
A bear's got the height and strength advantage, sure, but a tiger has the speed advantage. I'd have to say that tigers are probably the better hunter as well. But if the great Stephen Colbert has taught us anything it is that bears are godless killing machines. This could really go either way.
Who would win in a fight a bear or a tiger?

I'm rooting for the bear!
I'm all for the tiger winning, but they're probably both gonna die. The tiger'll shred the bear alive, but the bear'll hit it a couple good times and it'll bleed out in the end.
'course, it'd also depend on how the fight started. Bears can't really 'get the jump on' somebody, but tigers are damned good at that. If he got on the bear before the bear knew it was fighting him, it'd be game over.
In Arizona (where I live), concealed and unconcealed guns can be carried into bars (unless there is a sign explicitly forbidding it). I'd say it's the one with the gun who happens to be drunk enough to use it.
tiger
I'd have to say a tiger. They're amazing strong for their size. Although, I'm sure a bear would be a very difficult opponent for it.
@Matinther@xanga - You're probably right. In the end, they would both eventually die. They can both inflict horrible damage to the other, so the amount of blood-loss would most likely take it's toll.
the photographer... can ya imagine what the pictures would be worth? u-tube vid would generate?
Tigers hunt head first. Bears use their paws. I don't think the tiger would be able to sink it's teeth in before the bear gets a good swipe at it's head. First hit wins this fight.
@Loonsounds@xanga - That wasn't even close to the question. Unless you are suggesting that the bear and/or tiger are carrying a gun....
Tiger, easily.
the man.
Bear.
"Only you can prevent forest fires."
Smokey..i mean, a Bear would win. lol
a tiger. no competition. they even studied the movements of one and created a fuckin martial art style.
@jolee121@xanga - they also based a martial arts form on the movements of monkeys and praying mantis... doesn't mean monkey or praying mantis would kill a bear.
bear.
@jolee121@xanga - BEAR. Tigers are pussies unless they're hungry or trying to mate... a bear will just fuck you up for being close to her.
@thewindycity@xanga - Dude, have you seen Kung Fu Panda... mantis was kicking panda's ass that whole movie ;p But no. I digress, if a monkey or a mantis was similar in size to a bear or a tiger... they'd probably beat their asses.
I LOVE random useless "what if" debates like this :D
Who told you that guys think about this or even care? It's not about who would win, it's that both animals embody raw power and a fierce predatory edge that men like to think they themselves exhibit. Why would we want either of them to kill the other? If two massive beasts are going to be lain low, most guys I know would prefer to be doing the killing with the biggest, baddest, big game gun they can lay their hands on. And then I, personal slant here, would embellish the crap out of the story to make it seem like I did it with one shot from a blowgun and my bare hands. This couch seems sorta girly to me. I'm gonna see if I can come up with some ideas for you. But get ready for your majority female viewership to drop off drastically.
what kind of bear are we talking about??
@Epic_Dood@xanga - My first thought, as well. But even if you're talking about a Kodiak Grizzly (the biggest, baddest, mf bear of all) it would probably be smart enough to avoid a fight with a tiger. Ditto the tiger. Both have much weaker victims/prey available and neither needs to embark on a course likely to lead to mutually assured destruction. . .
(Even the "eagle" and the "bear" have so far managed to avoid that one. . .)
If the bear was able to pin the tiger down he could do some serious damage but as long as the tiger maintains a good distance and looks for angles where he could strike he should be able to hold off for a while.
@Ewithani@xanga - i think any north american bear would absolutly dominate a tiger...a kodiak would not even feel the tigers bite or claws due to its massive amount of think fur covering 98% of its body, which is about twice the size of a big male tiger..i think the fight would go something like this:
tiger creeps up on an unexpecting kodiak, and pounces on it
the bear doesnt fall down, instead the tiger hangs on for a ride until the bear shakes him off and all the tiger gets is his claws and mouth full of fur....the bear either runs away completely unharmed, or would stand up and with one of its 12 inch paws with 5, five inch claws absolutly bitch slaps the tiger across the face...just once.... and the tiger is out
lets say the bear attacks the tiger..the tiger would get scared shitless and run away leaving the bear a mile behind
Hmm, well, the tiger has better eyesight and would have the advantage when the grizzly bear reared up on his hind legs. But grizzly bears have incredibly thick fur, so it would be difficult for the tiger to attack the grizzly bear's most vital spots successfully.
I believe the real question is; why are Rachel and Jake fighting in the first place?
neither. the bear would woop the tigers ass and prolly knock it senseless. and before the bear could kill the tiger, it would run off. and besides the likelihood of a big enough bear to be in the same area as a tiger is kinda slim to nil.
Tigers kill their preay by suffocating the air supply - clamping their jaws around the jagular. To do this, they rely on superior strength, superior body mass, and rapid submission as their prey gets weaker and fatigued the more they struggle with less oxygen. It would work on more frail creatures like Gazelles, but with a bear all of the tigers main advantages are removed. The tigers main form of assault would be ineffective. Gazelles are prey, they aren't built for self defense and offence. They're built for speed, and avoiding conflict. Once they are caught they have no defense against a tigers choke hold. But bears are not prey, they're predators. Trying to suffocate a bear with your jaws would be suicide.
Anyone who thinks the tiger would win clearly hasn't thought through the dynamics of the whole situation very clearly. The bear would totally dominate.
