Do Guys Hate Girls With Small Dogs?
A thing I have noticed ... is that a lot guys don't care for girls with small dogs. (Paris Hiltons out there, I'm looking at you).
As a happily married long-haired Chi owner, I think its a load of garbage seeing as how my husband claims to love our fuzzy little guy almost as much as I do and seems to like me just fine. (I mean, he just married me, right?)
In my particular case, I'm thinking its just luck that my Chi is not fond of barking (ever) and he's not your typical skittish coddled thing. Still -it makes me wonder!
Have you ever ditched a girl with a miniature pet? Do you dislike small dogs? If so, why?Mancouch Says: A small dog on a girl is a giant warning sign that reads: High Maintenance X-ing. Sorry. Not really.

Lol, true a lot of the time. But not always. I feel so badly for the dogs I see dressed like that though. >.> Girls who dress up their tiny dogs, or, worse, dress them to match themselves, are the type to watch out for. Poor things...
I'd like a small dog one day. Not to dress or toss in my gigantic sea of a purse. I love my big dogs, but when they hop up on my lap, ow. I like the idea of having a dog sleeping on your lap without crushing you legs, like my cat used to do. :] I'll still always have a big dog though. Who's afraid of a squeaky toy? :[
I have my shih tzus and they hate dressing up just as I do. So that means I don't have that kind of warning sign=)
I think overly dressed dogs are harassed. Neon colors and blings. Eek. If only they can complain... haha!
My boyfriend HATES small dogs, and so do I so there's nothing to worry about. He told me that my dog [who is really annoying] cannot come with us when we move out. I'm fine with that haha.
The majority of guys don't like small dogs, because, well, they're small dogs. We want a dog, a real animal. Capable of handling themselves (as dependent upon us as they seem), and being a loyal companion. You don't dress them up - they're bloody animals! Little outfits, and boots, and scarves, and crap - why??!? As if small dogs don't have enough self-esteem issues, you make them look ridiculous. You want a dog you can walk, throw a stick in the woods, put them in your truck / car and have them stick their head out the window and NOT be blown away or eaten by an eagle. How about a dog that can walk miles with you, defend you - because let's face it, if someone jumps at you, that little Shitzu (sp?) isn't gonna help you fend off an attacker.
Small dogs are a waste. But wait, I understand that you're in the city, and live in a small condo or apartment and can't really have a big dog. If you're really that worried about your stuff being destroyed that you have to compensate by getting a miniature version of a real dog - you probably shouldn't own one. Move to a place where you can have a real dog.
The majority of small dogs are pampered, whiny, noisy, little disturbances. Treat a dog like a dog.
My friend once said that she owned a small dog because she can't handle a big dog physically. Well, that's not due to a size difference, that's a lack of proper training. Train your REAL dog properly, and it will respond to you - regardless if it outweighs you or not.
I don't dislike small dogs or people with them, but it's unfortunate that the trend right now is to have miniature dogs.
In animal shelters nationwide, there are millions of what they call BBD's, or big black dogs. People don't want big dogs as much, so these dogs wait around in shelters for an adoption that will most likely never come.
I feel as if the mini-dog trend makes it even more unlikely for big dogs to be adopted.
ha ha! good thing i have 2 pitbulls. guys seem to love it. i think they want a real dog! like xjadersx was saying. little dogs can be cute but annoying. and you know that saying that your pets reflect your personality and stuff?... it might be true. just saying.

@xtreme_350@xanga - Your opinon is completely biased. 1. Not everyone with a small dog dresses them up. 2. People don't get small dogs just cuz they are worried about stuff being destroyed. 3. Not all small dogs are yippy little things. My shitzu is a prime example. Sure he barks when the door bell rings and stuff like that. But once your inside hes just a lapdog that likes to play and be petted.
True guys like big dogs to be more manly I suppose but a smaller dog can still play fetch, still take walks and still stick it's head out the window. A dog is a dog. I like smaller dogs but that doesn't make them "better" then bigger dogs.

well i'm a girl, but i think small dogs are fine. they tend to get treated like accessories, however, and that's when i get creeped out.
I have rats and guys love the rats. Somehow, a girl owning a rat suddenly is badass punk or something. Small pets with big rattitude.
I don't view chihauhas as dogs really. They're more like ferrets without the cage. In that light I once considered getting 2 xhihauhas, potty train them and name them Punk and Bulldozer.
But I'd rather have a real dog, one that can go running with me without getting tired before I do. One that says WOOF instead of squeak.
Dogs are great and NOT fashion accessories. They don't like to be put in little purses. I really want to beat these bitches silly.
I see small dogs like cats... they just need to be carried around to be oohed over. What's wrong with giving these tiny creatures the love they need? It's not like these animals have the build and bulk to defend themselves from the big bad wolves and rottweilers.
I think big dogs are awesome. The bigger, the better. :)
But I'm sorry for being one of the many girls who are responding to this blog.

I have no problem with any sort of dogs. I have a problem with owners of dogs who forget that they own an animal, not an inanimate object, or worse, a human.
