IVOD: Charlie Bit My Finger (Over 120 Million Views)
How the hell did this video get over 120 million views? Okay. granted it's adorable. But so is half the stuff on youtube. What makes this so special? I don't get it. It seems so .... pedestrian. Normally these memes that blow up, I understand the appeal somewhat. I'm not the biggest Numa Numa fan, but that video was funny. Dramatic chipmunk? Hilarious. This? Kinda banal. Also, how come I never heard of it? I spend a lot of time in these here internets. I tend to come across all these memes that blow up at some point or another. How did I miss this one? One more thing, how much is this kid going to hate his parents when he's 20? eh, not 20. At 20 it'll probably get him laid, but at 15 and then at 25 he'll hate it.
How the hell did this video get over 120 million views?

Because old women have nothing else to do on Youtube.
Hahah, his accent is cute as hell.
If you felt bad after looking at this, don't look up Laughing Baby.
(Here's linky in case you don't listen to my advice...)
I saw this a long time ago...it is adorable. I think maybe his accent has something to do with it and all the British accent loving American grandmoms surfing youtube caused the 120 million views.
There are certain mainstream media outlets that are behind en-mass PR drive for youtube and google. In Ireland all you hear on the radio being mentioned are these two elements of the internet. Nothing else on the internet gets a mention.
The reason they get so many views is simply because they are chosen to be leaked, the person in the video has to give a written consent first. hence not more get out.
It doesn't matter that Xanga doesn't get mentioned on TV, its actually a good thing. Xanga would be shit if all the idiots in the world, the short termers came here.
PEace
Several funny or popular vids are linked to that. I think most people were only tricked to have this played. By the way, that's the first time I've actually watched the whole thing ...
IDK, but I have been watching this video forever!!! I love it and it never get's old. So pretty much, I am why there is 120 million views...
it's definitely because they're british. pretty much end of story there.
because of people like you advertising it :)
i don't know. i watched it once.
xo
Lol his accent reminds me of Forrest Gump.
@OwenHiggins@xanga - That is so true. The community in xanga is unique compared to the other mainstream websites which feel all the same.
My friend showed me.
So maybe people just pass it around. xD
I seen this because someone showed this video to me...
what a waste of 55 seconds
@papersmile@xanga - bingo. the accents and the bit about him being an enabler and purposely letting his baby brother bite him im sure helped. Who knows what makes viral videos, viral as far as their appeal.
@OwenHiggins@xanga - I seriously doubt there's some great conspiracy to gain ad revenue for google and its subsidiaries. having a few friends on youtube who are partners and actually get paid to make videos, i know its not quite that contrived. At least in the case of short little 30sec to 2 min videos.
I think a lot of it has to do with people being bored at work and sending it out in mass and that mass sends it out in mass and it keeps going then its forgotten... then the SLOWER people who arent online as much start sending it AGAIN, then some OTHER random bored people make SPOOFS of the initial video which just makes MORE people want to see the video it originated from... then television finally catches up and it starts all over again.
it gets a hell of a lot of views because people link it on various blogs...
like this one
yea i dont get it there are tons of cute videos out there and then certain ones like blow up and others dont
Hehehe
And now that 120 million hits is going to go up...now that it's on mancouch....
his accent is cute... but all in all.. its kind of annoying.. haha
It's cute & funny
charlie bit me is at least 100x better than numa numa and dramatic chipmunk. Those two videos are retarded.
@shunny@xanga - I thought the same thing! XD
kids make me sick. i ex-ed the video the first time it was sent to me. i refuse to see any version of charlie bit my finger up to this day.
There should be a govt. bailout for CharlieBitMyFinger.
Isn't is too BIG to fail?
Maybe a Czar should be appointed to manage it, if it doesn't already have one.
I hear a tax credit for watching it is being proposed, somewhere in the neighborhood of $2000 per view.
This will Stimulate the economy.
