Procrastination: what do you do?
Procrastination always has a way of seeping into my skin and taking hold of me. As the fall semester began, I was excited to rock all my classes... until I remembered that it would actually entail work. The first couple weeks were great, but now I've hit the back to school slum and it sucks! So, procrastination has found me and I'm making wonderful use of my time!
Instead of reading two chapters and doing outlines to accompany them, I'm on Mancouch writing about not reading two chapters and doing outlines to accompany them. I'm procrastinating, I know I am, and in a way, I'm also being productive at the same time (by blogging!). I enjoy blogging and it's odd that I only get the urge when I don't have the time. So, cutting to the chase, I've made a list of the top four ways I (and probably other people) procrastinate.
Facebook - This website is the ultimate time waster. I don't need to click through endless pages worth of profile pictures, or add over 400 friends (375 of which I don't speak to). Whenever I feel like procrastinating, or wasting away in front of my computer, I open up Facebook. It entertains me enough to keep me from remembering I have more pressing things to do.

Video games - When I'm procrastinating, video games are the perfect way to tune out the sensible voice in my head. They're fun, distracting and time consuming. You can spend an hour playing DotA and not even realize it until you alt + tab!

Trash TV - I admit it; I love trash tv! It's a nice break from the regular television shows. Trash TV probably makes me dumber, but it doesn't require much thinking to watch. Real World, The Hills, that Flavor Flav romance show, and so many others. When there's nothing to watch, nothing to do, or something you're avoiding to do, there is always trash tv!
Food - "Ah, before I start studying, reading, working, etc, I'm going to make/order this food that I'm craving!" I'm always doing this. I always grab a snack (which I intend to be light) before I start doing work. This "snack grabbing" somehow always turns into an eight course meal. If I'm craving some pizza rolls (mmm!), it would just so happen that I wouldn't have any in the house, so I would have to make a trip to the market to get some.Somehow, I would become so absorbed into my food that I finish it all without even cracking a book. Thereby repeating the cycle over and over. Then when I'm actually about to do work... food coma.
Does my list apply to you? What else do you do when you procrastinate?

Um let me think about it - I'll get back to you soon.
The food and the video games definitely apply to me. I'm all the time catching myself eating Bagel Bites and playing Tiger Woods golf about 5 minutes before I'm supposed to be somewhere important.
I think my biggest way to procrastinate is to visit Pogo.com. If I ever start bowling, you can hang up the idea of me doing anything else for at least a couple of hours.
for me is just internet mostly, but I would replace facebook with xanga, replace TV with watching old tv episode online, listen to music online, so just mainly online for everything.
sporcle.com
Ultimate Procrastination.
xanga and facebook
Write beer reviews on mine and Paige's beer blog. ROFL.
@deprivation_now@xanga - ditto
Procrastination means you don't do shit, which I imagine holds true for most people when engaged (not-engaged) in said activity (lack of activity).
I actually did end up finishing all my work that night (yesterday night), and I'm about to hit the books once again for my exam tomorrow... after I finish reading the new Mancouch posts. :)
The list should include XANGA =P!
glue.
it's fascinating .
Procrastination is like masturbation. I always end up doing both.
@ice_babe_4eva@xanga - I was thinking of including Xanga, however, some of the blogs on the Xanga sites are interesting and informative; therefore I deduced that it wasn't a complete waste of time.
Erm, I thought procrastination means delaying what is intended or important for something of lesser importance? (In response to courjeaux)
Anyways, I read books when I don't want to do homework :D
@StephanieDFung - I see and agree with your point. I guess I wasn't reading the article careful enough? What about sites like www.postsecrets.com or www.fmylife.com?
I sleep off my procrastination =).
@ice_babe_4eva@xanga - Definitely! Unless you really have nothing else to do. I don't venture on those sites very much, because I'm quite preoccupied... what with DotA, Facebook and all. :)
xanga.. i'll read everything and anything.. >.<
youtube it
I win at procrastination. I can Facebook, play Warcraft and eat all while watching some show I should probably be ashamed of watching but am not e.g. Gossip Girl. Then, when I'm done with all that I open the books for 10 minutes before I remember why I procrastinated in the first place. Repeat.
Speaking of which...I sit and....my mind is free!!1 But tomorrow I swear I'm going to do something useful, something school-like...and stuff. Justwait and see..tomorrow, yea. Or maybe the day after tomorrow.
Ummmm...no.
I use Facebook everyday, but I'd a whole lot rather read a book than spy on my friends...they lead boring lives. However, I'm on for a few hours everyday as this is my main means of communicating with my best friend is currently out of the country.
I love video games to a certain extent...but I've honestly got better things to do.
TV, nah.
Food? I get caught up in whatever I'm doing and forget to eat. Don't ask how it happens, just know that I only remember a few hours later when my stomach is demanding that I feed it. Yeah. I'm the girl who snacks right before supper.
However, I'm one of the best procrastinators the world has ever seen. Takes practice to be this good.
Everything except trash TV applies to me. Add everything on the internet and reading books I was supposed to have read years ago that seem more interesting than what I'm supposed to read in the present, and that's about it.
this post..
keeping me away from writing my post on how I'm almost
always late.
tie's in perfectly!
I have to blog now..
bet my friends will call me saying they're outside as i'm in the middle of it.
