Why does anyone care about what Kanye West did at the VMAs?
I don't get why anyone cares about the VMAs or Kanye or any of this. It's Mtv, it's an award show for something they don't even show anymore.
Mtv since its creation has worked tirelessly to destroy music as an artistic medium. Having succeeded sometime in the late 90s, they then turned to making sure that everyone in the world hated American teenagers in a way that cannot truly be captured by words (try watching an entire episode of my super sweet sixteen without wanting to suicide bomb something ... you just can't do it). And now at an award show dedicated to giving awards to whichever record company coughed up the most payola to promote one of their stars' multimillion dollar music videos for a song created by a marketing team, that will never ever be seen because no one actually shows music videos anymore, some asshole went up on stage when he wasn't supposed to and everyone lost their shit.
How many people died today because they didn't have health care?
Kanye hasn't ever really said anything particularly poignant. He's a very talented producer, but either fame has caused him to go insane or that's the persona he's decided will sell the most records. Regardless, I wasn't interested in anything he had to say before and I'm not interested now.
I just don't understand why anyone cares.
Why does anyone care about what Kanye West did at the VMAs?

It was just so rude, and I think many felt so sorry for Taylor as she stood there with a look of defeat on her face. I never watch the VMA's...only turned them on because my sis was talking about how ridiculous Lady Gaga looked, but I admit, I was pretty pissed off when he showed his ass.
I agree that MTV is killing music. All they care about is the Real World and all that crazy shit. Fuse is much better, IMO.
Thank you for echoing my thoughts exactly. Now I don't have to.
Those are also my thoughts exactly.
He's an ignanttt mother fuckaaaaaaaaaaaa. Okay, okay. I take that back. He's just a damn 32-year-old that craves too much damn attention by saying the most irrelevant shit that he should keep to himself.
That's why when Jay Leno asked him what his mother *who passed away* would think or say to him...he almost cried like a bitch.
SERVES HIM RIGHT!
I don't think people actually cared that he interrupted Swift's speech, I mean if anyone interrupted anyone on stage, they'll be hated by their fans.
I liked Kayne West, I really did, he had great songs, but the thing is, West always loses his cool every time he doesn't get an award and such childish antics should not be awarded. Therefore, I lost respect for an artist who doesn't show respect to himself or fellow artists.
The main problem is, no one in his company, not even his bosses seem to punish him for the things he do when he wilds out. Therefore, I guess the public feel that they need to punish him if his record label or anyone who's in charge of him don't punish him. So we punish him ourselves anyway we could.
Anyway, about MTV, or any music channel for that manner, they need to start showing more music videos instead of their stupid reality shows. I have a blog about reality shows, and I have a low tolerance for them. Real World was ok, but since every music channel has to have reality shows, there's no room for music, so those channels should change their format or their network name because they're not follow it.
Yeah, it was wrong of him alright, and he's a jackass for it, but this whole thing is gonna go on fora long time, and that's the annoying part. I'm beginning to feel sorry for people who feel sorry for her, because no no one will shut up about it now. Even she's over it.
*sigh*
and I agree with illegally_invited,
what happened to the good old days when MTV had decent music videos?
Now, it's all "rock of love", and crap of that sort. it's disgusting.
I agree. I don't know why anyone cares. yes, it was rude... but whatever. life goes on.
gooood post, my thought's exactly. i love the pic at the beginning. kanye is kanye was an idiot always an idiot.
It was rude and uncalled for.
I agree man.
He's a prick. Everyone knows it.
If people just accepted it and stopped flipping out he wouldn't be getting this insane publicity
I'm surprised people still watch Mtv. Then again popular music is a load of crap. Ah well. Just label me anti-pop
People are bored as wood. It's just easier to say that.
The fact is that he's a thirty something GROWN man who publicly humiliated a nineteen year old girl in front of an entire nation, if not more. It was rude, tactless and he should have had the control to begin with. The fact that he's a grown man and can't control himself to humiliate a teenager on national television shows a lack of his character and morale.
What I don't understand is that people are more upset with Kanye West than they are Joe Wilson.
But I guess disrespectful celebrities are more egregious than disrespectful, tactless politicians that shout out during a joint session.
I have always has a hate for him and only had the VMAs on for Muse <3 lol It was very dick of him, but hey he is an idiot, so...yeah What can I do? lol
it matters because it was a hate crime. it was because she was white. this racism has got to stop.
I really couldn't care less. He is an artist. People buy his music. That is all that matters.
There are a lot of jerks out there. He just happens to be more well known.
i agree!! and i don't know if anyone has gotten this text or seen anyone post it as a facebook status, but there's a dumb ass joke going around about kanye interrupting patrick swayzee's funeral to say that michael jackson's was better. if i get that text or see that posted one more time i might just kill someone!
It doesn't affect him. The people who really don't like him are the same people who have never liked his music. Everyone else will say "I hate Kanye because he's a tool," then flock to buy his next album because "this shit's tight." It's exposure, it gets his name out, it's a smart marketing ploy.
People said the exact same shit about Chris Brown, that they hated him, that he was a huge dick, and that they would "never listen to his music ever again." Maybe that's why I still hear tons of people playing it.
I'd say I'm over it, but you can't really get over something you didn't care about in the first place.
thank you so much for writing this! <3
Taylor and Kanye suck and I will seriously punch a baby if I hear this damn story again
When this first happened,of Kanye ruining Taylor Swift's moment to shine at the VMA's, I too could care less for it. But then, a day or two following this idiocy of Kanye West, when Obama commented "off the record" and called Kanye a Jackass,I started to care about what Kanye did. To me,when Obama, of all people, who should be concerned about much more important issues affecting our nation, talks about a fool like Kanye, well hey, it got me curious to see what the big deal was. I youtubed the event to see how Kanye acted towards Taylor, and I always will think its messed up and stupid of Kanye to have done,I was cracking up. He took the mic from Taylor, shouted out what he believed in,gave the mic back to Taylor and he made an "I dunno" expression with his arms and tilted head. Thats what cracked me up. So yeah, all this did for me was just make me lmao, that's about it.
I just don't understand why anyone was shocked at how he acted. I honestly was watching the VMAs, and I thought everyone knew that Kanye is a tool outside of being a musical genius?
Because people don't seem to have anything better to do.
It's over people. Kanye feels like a jerk and wants to change and Taylor accepted his apology. Get on with your lives.
@TheGiantSlayer@xanga - All Kanye does is talk. Fine, he wanted a black sista to win. So? He didn't punch anyone out, and he knows that he was wrong. Racism is in all cultures. People do so much worse when it comes to racism, how about you do something other than call out a dude who is civil enough to ONLY voice his opinions. There are a lot more problems in the world. If anything, he showed how people SHOULD act when they don't agree with something. Voice it and that's it. Doesn't America promote freedom of speech? He isn't even saying that white people should all die or something. He's just angry because he thinks that black people should have just as many opprotunities as white people, or something to that affect. So what you are accusing him of, he probably accuses white people of. Even though racism should stop, there are many reasons why it is still in our world. But let's not put all the heat on Kayne, because people should be focusing on the real issues.
and LOL @ obama. he obviously wants to be liked and is glad that nobody is bitching about him for a change. although i'm sure people are going to go back to it.
