Last week I wrote an article explaining that I didn't understand fake boobs. It got a large response, but I'm not sure it really cleared anything up for me.
Most people, especially women, claimed that it's because women feel insecure about their chests or because of low self-esteem. Well, it is understandable, especially given our raised interaction with media and increasingly solitary life-styles that a woman would feel insecure or have a poor self body image, but to get surgery and permanently alter one's body seems like an extreme response.
A number of people mentioned it like men worrying about the size of their nether-regions and that we would enlarge our members surgically if we could. But I think this precisely proves my point.
Guys do have a level of anxiety about the size of their nether-regions and surgical "enhancement" is an option, but it isn't quite so popular. I think this blows a hole in the theory that breast implants are simply because of anxiety.
A number of other people mentioned being born misshapen breasts or with one boob larger than the other. This, I completely understand. It's like getting plastic surgery to remove a scar on your face or something.
The point of the article was to wonder about those who get implants just to get bigger. I was simply stating I didn't understand it. It wasn't meant to demean those who do, it's just something that makes no sense to me. But given the response that didn't seem to think that implants was an extreme response to self-esteem issues, I began to wonder if maybe I'm the odd man out. Maybe plastic surgery is seen as a way of dealing with things.
I happen to think that it doesn't work, both in its attempts to make the person better looking and to make the person feel better. But as I stated, I really wouldn't know. So, mancouchers:
Would you ever get plastic surgery?

Only if I had an accident and was horribly disfigured. And if you consider laser hair removal plastic surgery than I would get that if I had the money. I really hate shaving my legs! haha.
Nope, never ever. I have a strong dislike of fake boobs and it really bothers me when my friends have it done. I know someone will come along after me and say that it's their lives (and body) but that doesn't mean I have to agree with their choice.
I have been thinking about getting lap ban to help lose weight but I am not sure still.
I would, but it depends on the specific surgery.
I've thought about it
If I had the money, absolutely. I'd get four different procedures. I'd get an eyebrow lift, a rhinoplasty, a tummy tuck, I'd have my restored FS tightened up a bit (a restored FS doesn't usually pucker firmly like a real FS),
I plan on it. After I'm done having kids I plan on getting a boob lift. I'm ok with saying I'm self-concious, and even insecure about my looks, but I know my boobs look awesome when they're perky, and I'd like them to stay that way. :P
Well if the size of guys dicks was obvious through their pants, I think that surgery to make guys more "well endowed" would be a lot more popular. Hopefully by the time someone sees the size of your junk, they will have already gotten to know you and will like you no matter what your size is. On the other hand, he size of our boobs are obvious through our clothing most of the time, which makes us more self conscious about them. Plus guys are always staring at them so they're always on display.Â
I don't know if I would get plastic surgery, I'm hoping I age well so I won't have to! haha I guess I would think about it but I don't know if I'd have the guts to actually go through with it.
Once I get the cash I'm going in for cosmetic dental work and eventually lasik as no as it's no blade lasik.
Noo thanks.
I have. Lipo in trouble spots and a breast augmentation. I got the lipo because every time I lost weight I never got smaller/lost fat in two particular areas, so it made that easier and I look/feel much more symmetrical/smooth. As for my breasts, I could've lived with their size, but I HATED the shape. They looked like ski slopes, they weren't saggy though, just like the upper part of a balloon was deflated. It's hard to explain. Sure my boobs are bigger now, but they're also fuller and still perky. Not to mention they fit my body much better I feel...gives me a more "womanly" feel if you can call it that.
I would never get something like a facelift or Botox cause I think that's WAY extreme. Aging is a natural process and one in which I don't mind going through. But while I'm young, taking a little off here and adding a little more there doesn't hurt lol
Yeah sure, why not. Well, minor plastic surgery maybe; just a few tweaks here and there would be fine.
Just to add I think it's ridiculous that people use the excuse of "getting in an accident and being horribly disfigured" as a reason to get plastic surgery. Technically, that's NOT plastic/cosmetic surgery. By insurance terms, that's "reconstructive surgery". Cosmetic surgery is changing something that is not causing a REAL medical issue. Reconstructive surgery is correcting something that IS an issue, such as skin grafts for burn victims, breast reconstruction after a masectomy or (like in my case) correcting a birth defect (I was born with a cleft lip and palatte). I find it almost insulting that people call it plastic surgery and claim that only disfigurement cases justify changing your appearance through surgery. That's bullshit. Get your terms right and just say the correct answer which is, "No, I wouldn't get plastic surgery". Thanks.
Heck if I had the money, then yes.
I guess you can say it's insecurities with my nose. It's always been what I would call "big" and that's the troubling part. Other than that, I feel quite happy with myself.
No. Just plain no. I won't speak for everyone, but if my nose is big...which I don't think it is, then genetically there is a reason everything is the way it is. I couldn't imagine any part of me being different. I don't think any part of me is ugly.
depending on what it is, yeah sure why not?
@TheScaleDiaries@xanga - that's possible? spot lipo-ing? because i've always wanted to do that but i wasn't sure if it existed (then again, i didn't really take the time to research it so...)
besides possible spot-lipo-ing, not really. when i'm 60, i'll look like i'm 40 if my grandma's any indicator and the only thing she's done akin to any cosmetic doctoring is dye her gray hairs so i doubt i'll ever feel the need to.
ehh i dunno. it depends. i'm no divination teacher. but one of my boobs is bigger than the other. hmmmmm i dunno i dont really feel like fixing it hahah XD. i do have a pretty big scar encompassing my back from scoliosis for surgery but apparently most guys i tell it about think it's sexy (lulwut). no idea man. no idea. i'll give a crappy "maybe"
Never, im proud of my scars, and even a severe disfigurement that could cause me to be alone for the remainder of my life wouldnt provoke me to throw my hard earned money away on plastic surgery.
Nah.
nope. unless i get burned in a large wild blaze fire. then probably.
boob implants = no sensation whatsoever in your boobs.
no thank you.
My nose was broken at the age of 13 and now it isn't straight. My dad once offered to pay for me to get a nose job. I was like heck no techno!! So I learned to love my nose the way it is :)
Girls get boob jobs because they think that it is attractive to men. Just like girls act dumb around guys, because they think that guys will find it cute. It's really just something that girls do because they think it will make them "hotter" when in reality it just isn't attractive to some guys.
plastic surgery? no
but i'd get laser hair removal!
Yes. Plainly because I am vain and I don't see a problem with it.
@xjadersx@xanga - @soberheartss@xanga - @helpingkill@xanga - (this is a general comment, don't take it too personally) fixing a disfigurement from burning or an accident is not plastic surgery, that's "reconstructive surgery" which is usually covered by insurance (I would know, I was born with a birth defect called a cleft lip and palatte, part of my 'reconstruction' was a procedure normally considered cosmetic known as rhinoplasty). Your answer is "no" to plastic surgery, reconstructive procedures are NOT cosmetic by insurance terms (though obviously no one wants to walk around with a hole in their face or no skin of course). And it's not a waste of money (mainly because you usually don't pay..and if you do it's not nearly as much as you would.
