So over the past couple of years I've seen the show, "Sex and the City" on many women's televisions; especially in a few of my own friend's homes. I'm ok with the show, but it's not necessarily my thing. However I did have fun watching this other show HBO has to offer, that after conversing with a group of my guy friends... found out that this was basically the male version of "Sex in the City".
Instead of having a journalist, "Kerri Bradshaw", "Entourage" has a young and sexy "Vincent Chase" who is a rookie actor and lives out many sexual encounters in the most "no strings attached" way possible. Then there is in sorts, the "Samantha Jones" persona - rough, pushy and gets what she wants. Entourage has a similar character "Ari Gold", the man with all the connections - somehow I could see the two of them becoming good business partners. Ari, however is a lot more crude - to everyone. You will more likely be offended by him more than anything in this show. He really spares no one. =)
But where is the relationship holder, the character looking for the long lasting relationship? "Eric Murphy" is the new "Charlotte York", although Charlotte is looking for marriage - Eric is sort of looking for the keeper- not exactly the same, but they share the same traits of each other's show.
So then there is an awkward character in SATC, awkward in relationships - yet has kind of the sensible head, "Miranda Hobbes". She often has some selfish advice for herself, but tends to give somewhat decent advice concerning her friend's well being. "Turtle" from E, tends to pick up some of those traits, however you can't take him as seriously.
Now, there is one flaw that SATC doesn't have, and that is "Drama" the brother of Vincent Chase, you know, kind of a tag along you learn to love. No one can really take him seriously, but he is definitely putting himself out there. SATC tends to pick up side characters that stic around the seasons, "Stanford Blatch" , Carrie Bradshaws' best friend out side of the girls tends to take a lot of this comic relief. Personally I think "Turtle" and "Drama" Take turns with their roles.
One more thing that SATC doesn't have, is Lloyd <3 He is what we like to call - the trooper!
Mancouch says: Sex and the City is based on a ridiculous concept: four girls all staying friends for over six years?! Give me a break.
Meanwhile, Entourage makes total sense. Four guys staying friends for six seasons? Totally believable.

Actually, Entourage is better than Sex and the City.
I think it's a terrible show
i like both shows.
xo
thats kind of gay. biting off sex and the city. no way sex in the city is the original.
Why, why, why?
Why is this on Mancouch?

@SailsandBellows@xanga - because its talking about a show men watch opposed to women, I simply was comparing the two. =P
I'd watch it. ;D
Entourage is one of the best shows on TV
Sex and the City is a shame compared to Entourage<3
Hahahah!
Ari is my favorite
I don't watch any of these shows. Now shows like Oz and the Sopranos those were shows I liked on HBO.
Only difference is; both men AND women love Entourage. Only time I ever remember having watched Sex and the City is if there was nudity in the very begging... and even so... the one that sleeps around a lot got more nude in Corky's than in SATC, so I'd rather watch that.
@mancouch - those girls supposedly were friends back in college and high school too though right? even more unbelievable to live in the same city and hang out all the timer and still be friends. The actresses themselves in real life couldn't even pull that off.
@wolvenchic@xanga - i think it's a good comparison!
Well done x
I definitely do not concur with that notion. I think on one side there are similarities, but it really ends with whole four single guys thing. It is one of the funniest shows on tv because of Jeremy Piven's role. As a guy we understand that Vince and his friends are living a fantasy. For that, we have the Ari Gold character, which is probably one of the most funny characters ever.
@KevtheMoron@xanga - Sopranos was good =)
@Olyachka@xanga - Its not for everyone, but what was it that turned you off to it?
@JessxMaxine@xanga - Best of both worlds =)
@wolvenchic@xanga - I watched the first season and I didn't feel it was captivating and original.
@xtine015@xanga - Hey now, I didnt say SATC wasnt an origonal, what my blog is saying is that E is basically SATC for men! haha, personally Im not a SATC fan, so I pointed out what I thought it needed, why I personally didnt like it. For all I know, you may hate E because the plot IS nothing like SATC. but most women dont, its too crude. =P
@erahslover@xanga - lol your right, both guys and girls love E, but a lot more women are turned off by it, from the girls i know, by Ari, but i find him hilarious, my fav character, and Lloyd just brings out the qualities. Corkys was pretty funny. =P
@wolvenchic@xanga - haha i know. lol sorry.
I've never watched these shows. I stay busy writing. Shelby Stone...>Cherry Picking Time by A1Adultebooks.com
