Astronaut doesn't change his undies for a month
According to CNET, a Japanese astronaut didn't change his underwear in outer space for 30 days.
Japanese astronaut Koichi Wakata, who returned to earth Friday, had been on the International Space Station since March. And, well, I don't know quite how I am to put this, but he didn't change his underwear for a month.
I know what you're thinking. We're both thinking the same thing.
Not even in the the darkest, most slovenly days of our student youth did we wear the same pair of knickers for 30 days. Around seven days was our limit. Then we'd at least manage a hand wash in a sink.
But here was the intrepid Wakata, prepared for the sake of all our futures to don anti-static, flame-resistant, odor-eating, bacteria-killing, water-absorbent underpants.
Mancouch says: Wow... this would solve all of our laundry problems! If you could wear odor-eating bacteria-killing super underwear, how many days in a row would you go?
a) One day - I have a one day underwear policy in place.
b) Two days - If it was completely clean after one day, I would consider a second day.
c) Two to Seven days - I trust technology to keep my underwear completely clean.
d) One week to One Month - I really really trust technology.
e) One Month+ - If Japanese astronauts can last one month, I'm goin' for the record!

sick. vomit. puke.
one day. maybe even two. naah, that's just nasty.
one day is my final answer.
ew.
Probably two days. I think it would really start to bother me after that.
well, I hope he took about 6 showers a day then...and even then...still...ew
Okay for astronauts, it's more understandable since they probably have difficulty getting their big suits on and off. But for normal people, come on now.
I usually wear mine for about a week before I change pairs..and I would probably stick to a week even with that super underwear as well. Gotta get them worn in.
Eww. Call me prissy or whatever you like, but I have to every night or else I feel really really grimy.
i don't know why he would even tell the media this lol.
he must be proud
4 thoughts running through my head:
1. maybe guys' underwear doesn't dirty as fast
2. I think my record is 3/4 days which includes not showering (ohhhh exams)
3. maybe if I had his ultra-tech underwear, I could do it
4. I wonder how much his underwear costs because that would save me lots of time
astronauts? come on, imagine how uncomfortable that would be to change.
But normal people. 30 days would be NASSTY regardless of what new technology you may have created
i barely ever wear underwear anyway =)
A bit disturbing.. I wouldn`t do it, and if the guy I was interested went so much as two days without [I`ll give the male population a one day leniency], I would think twice about dateability.
A week? A month? Anything more than a day is nastyyyy.
two days at the most. what if there's leakage D:
this is the wave of the future folks. it may seem disgusting now, but c'mon... bacteria-eating underpants?? that's friggin awesome!
