  • Stuff Guys Like #1: Themselves.

Welcome to the first installment of "Stuff Guys Like" (by Gerald_Washington).

Today, we are going to discuss the first thing that men like, which is simply, being men.

It's great to be a man, undoubtedly enough. We're probably the most coveted of the 2 genders. Even women admit they want to be men (as I've seen in several blogs).   We have a penis.  And best of all, we can use the bathroom standing up.  Sure, there are men who want to be women, but they're called transvestites for a reason.

Us men tend to live less longer than women (it's a fact, and men love facts) but this isn't so without the fact that men have at times a more epic quality of life. So what if we live on average about 75.2 years compared to 80.4? At least we don't kick 5 years out of our life for less fun. So I say, live it up guys.
We can drink beer, get fat, and still look good enough to land a hot chick. Take the show Family Guy or King of Queens. Or even better Seth Rogen in everything (not that he's done much, but it is an example).

We even say unfunny things that make women laugh (also much like Seth Rogen).

We as men know how to laugh at ourselves as well as each other, which makes us funny (unlike women).  Also, did I mention we can use the bathroom standing up?

What do you think is best about being a man?

Mancouch adds: Here's the definitive test: if you were reincarnated, would you want to come back as a man or a woman?

    It's better to be androgynous.
    BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!

    Minus the whole 'penis' thing.

Women live 5 years longer just so they can spend that amount of time dressing up and putting on makeup.  I don't really mind if we live shorter. Happiness shouldn't be gauged by the years that we live, but what we do in these short years that makes us happy.

Our philosophy on style and beauty is great: "Screw make up and lipgloss. Put on some shirt and pants and whatever, and it's no biggie. We know we look good, and anyone who doesn't agree can blow our trumpet."

  • snapeful@xanga

oh hell yes... i'd be a man. they have much better deals in terms of patriarchal societies, whereas you see like NO matriarchal societies... sheesh. i love myself too though 8D

It seems like a lot of things in life would be simpler if I were a man. I'm not saying y'all have it easy, it's just tends to be more black and white how things work. We women lurk in all shades of grey and tend to pop out of the fog at each other like vampiress banshees.

being a guy would be great i guess since woudnt get your period or have to give birth .. yet i luv being a girl to feel all feminine and sexy XD

I use to know a chick that could pee standing up. (yes she was really a chick)
  • herecomesthemoon@xanga

i love being a woman, sorry.

but i wouldn't mind being a man for a day - just to see what it's like with a penis and picking up chicks :D

sorry about your experience with guys. you're using a stereotype, a mental shortcut, to categorize all guys as thinking about themselves.

the whole thing about dividing the world into women and men is idiotic from its origin. popular culture amplifies these stereotypes even more, a very bad thing leading to feeling of being someone dependent on expectations of others, not an individual with strong self-awareness values and unique personality.

if reincarnated, i don't care if i was born a man again or a woman, as long as i kept my personal integrity and sense of identity. i see no shame in having one or other kind of organs. some people would use that as an excuse for their actions or attitudes. it's a simple clear act of irresponsibility.

hopefully i'm not stirring an online war. some things never go out of fashion. like being true to oneself.

Best thing about being male? Well we get to do stupider stuff (generally) which is directly related to the amount of fun we have.

  • Non_Cherie@xanga

even if i got reincarnated, i'd want to be a woman again.

  • S0N1@xanga

    I like being a woman, sorry. :)

  • Murphy_Rants@xanga

Who says I can't pee standing up? Will I make a mess? Yes...but can I pee standing up? Hell yes. Have I? Definately.

  • xjadersx@xanga

Hmmm... well I would like to come back as a man to try something new. It would be cool if I could remember what it was like being a woman, and then compare.   You men do seem to have it easier haha. Although being a woman is fun most of the time.

  • erahslover@xanga

@slimlove@xanga - me too, that shit was kind of amazing. but she had to do some weird puppetry of the vagina type sling shot action with her cooch... which would leave her vulnerable to being caught or would cause a mess of someone scared the shit out of her mid-release. It was still pretty awesome though... and gross... but mostly awesome.

Being a man is awesome... but i have nothing to compare it to other than hearing women COMPLAIN ALL THE FUCKING TIME about the men in their lives... and men only COMPLAIN ALL THE TIME about not HAVING women in theirs... if only in 20-60min increments ;p Which one is more lame? Complaining about something you have, or about something you don't have?

The only time I can gather that women have more fun than men is lying. Women LOVE lying, and have LOADS of fun doing it... we only lie to get ourselves out of trouble, women do that shit like an ARTFORM. And no man is ever going to go "shit... im getting old.. if I don't find a mate ill NEVER have kids and a family!!" and settle for some shlub who is subpar in every way just out of fear of her eggs drying up. BUT, fatcs also show(yay for facts!) that men who are married and have families live longer than single ones, but women who stay single live longer than the ones who raise families... shits mind blowing.

I'll end it like this, women spend those extra 5.5 years within their lives worrying about shit that ultimately doesn't matter.

  • erahslover@xanga

@PeterATL@xanga - its true though. i don't think he's saying men are incapable of caring about anyone other than themselves, but take into consideration the self indulgence men are allotted to have that society(whatever that word means) deems unacceptable for women.

And this isnt even a man vs women debate, shit in most cases you'll find a woman's worst enemy is another woman... and a man's worst enemy can EASILY be; both of those women.

  • Lilyofdavalley84@xanga

i feel being a man is a lot of pressure....but i would like being a man for a little while mabe a month...i'd screw a ton of girls but then i'd settle down and treat my gf like a precious princess.

  • rhiannonator@xanga

oh yes because tv paints my reality.

maybe that is a man thing too.
  • erahslover@xanga

@rhiannonator@xanga - life imitates art and vice versa.

  • erahslover@xanga

@Lilyofdavalley84@xanga - when girls say that they forget how prudish they are. its not easy.... unless you go for the types of girls that most girls hate :)

  • kor_girl@xanga

ALTHOUGH i love being a WOMAN, I'd come back as a man just to avoid this monthly PMS thing...
