  • Doug - The Ultimate Example of a Nice Guy?

I was reading the article about the recovering nice guy, and thought about everything from the Beatles' way of thinking and treating women, to how they are sort of raised nerds. Right after I was writing this down, up came yet another weird example: Doug. Yes, Doug Funnie.

I know you guys talked about his show before, but for some reason, I could not stop thinking about the situation. Doug was very in love with Patti Mayonnaise, since he moved to Bluffington, yet after all those dates and times of being friends with her (and all of his fantasies on her falling in love with her), he never worked up the nerve. Even in the season from ABC, he had one piece of competition: the confident, whacky guy...um, Guy.

Surely, the thing doesn't seem like a love, but Patti has her interests in Guy's ability to go for the gold, even on a committee. Still, all this time, even in the movie, we never got a chance to see Doug kiss or say he is in love with Patti.

I don't know what they did with Doug anymore, but if ever I had to point out Mancouch's point about nice guys, Doug seems to show it in spades. It's funny how I just noticed that, after seeing it in Saturday cartoons.
