When you hear "bachelor party," you probably think strippers and general debauchery. My friend Paul, meanwhile, is sort of a low-key guy, so his bachelor party was better suited to his wants and needs.
So, um, yeah, we had it at a bowling alley. I had a really good time. I also bowled really well, which, lest you think I am all cocky about it, I will readily admit my 196 was largely based on luck. Paul also did reasonably well. Our other 11 companions...eh, not so much. Paul's best man and brother Matt thought bowling would be something the lot of guys would be good at since, well, a lot of them are older and have bowled a bit in their day. Matt thought wrong.
Thankfully, we had fun despite our collective bowling woes. Paul's dad was kinda embarrassed he didn't crack 100, though. He kept mentioning it the whole night, in fact, which made me feel bad. As a man, it's often hard to do something that makes you look less than perfect. I credit Barack Obama for handling
his poor showing at the lanes as well as he did. I probably would have held a press conference to say I was withdrawing my bid for President and apologized to the youth of America.
Does being bad at sports make you less of a man?

I don't consider bowling as a sport. And if you are bad at sports then you'd have to have a redeeming quality
I'm alright at most of them. I was good back then, but my average have dropped since I don't bowl as much anymore.
There is nothing wrong with not being able to do sports. I have lots of totally awesome friends that don't do sports- but the thing is.... I LOVE SPORTS, so it would be weird for a relationship if I was more stronger than a guy But it doesn't make anyone less manly- it's just my preference. Good thing my boyfriend is great at sports and is really really strong- he can hold me easily
And on the other hand, I'm horrible at bowling. So am I bad at sports as well? I can generally play any sport pretty decently, but I'm proud when I break 120- ha! I even wrote a blog about the other day when I went bowling :D
Bowling is a sport?
I'm terrible at bowling.
But it's fun as hell.
not at all. i'd take a guy that's smart, funny, and terrible at sports over a guy that's an idiot but good at sports any day of the week.
I'm actually pretty good at bowling.. it just took a couple hundred dollars to get good at it. Haha, fck. -__-
I don't think being bad at sports makes you less of a man.
Bowling hurts my hands, well it did the last time I played.
I think lots of guys actually don't like the thought of a stripper filled bachelor party. It seems that way at least. You're not actually single for that one last night haha. You're getting married soon!
NO. Why would being bad at sports make you less of a man? Sports aren't male exclusive so why do you have to be good at them to be manly? Thats like saying if you're a woman who's good at sports it makes you more manly. I'd have to say that being bad at sports just makes you bad at sports, nothing else.
What the hell? How does that idea even cross your mind?
Just like my mother told me, "just because you're good at something doesn't mean everyone else will be." So, no being a "man" has absolutely nothing to do with sports whether being good or bad. it's all character
Yes it does. Paul does not have a dad. He has two moms.
@jf639@xanga - I was more interested in what people would have to say than actually believing it. You know, a provocative question. My friend's dad really took his low score hard, from which I surmised he felt like his very manhood was at stake.
But no doubt, you don't have to be good at sports to be a man.
I'm pro at bowling....... on wii sport.
I'm not very good at any sports to be honest, I'm more of a geek =PI enjoy doing sports, but I'm just not good at it.
Not at all.
in one sport it doesn't. in every sport, yeeaahhh!!! sought of it does.
Not bowling. Bowling is about aim, not swiftness or strength. I'm better at bowling than my boyfriend.
