Does the stereotype of men needing to look masculine prevent them from looking their best as well?
Will we be judging guys who wear make up because we think of it as a feminine product, used only by females?
Is it wrong for full grown men to wear say, a foundation so their skin looks smooth and glowing? How about some concealer to hide away those nasty breakouts we might have? Or, what if we wanted to emphasize our eyes with a little eyeliner?
Is it wrong for guys to wear these cosmetics based on what media perceives as acceptable and what's not?
Your mind will probably think that if a guy wears make up, they have to be gay, but why? Does someone wanting to look good, regardless of gender, instantly become judged and looked down upon?
Guys want to look good too. Maybe you'll think that only girls are the ones who are trying, but guys are too. We wake up early enough to get the perfect strands of hair up with gel, the right amount of shaving to be done, and the right outfit. What difference is it from a female? Why can't guys wear make up and be proud of it?!
What do you think? Is it wrong for guys to wear make up?
Mancouch says: Yes.

Not unless they are acting to hide blemishes for a Tv show. On a daily usage(as in you aren't an actor or something) would be out of the norm I guess...at least for me.
I don't think concealer is a big deal because honestly I see a lot of guys with acne problems and I'm sure they'd look ten times better if they concealed those bad breakouts, but anything further is a no. Sure, there are some girls who "suckers for guys in eyeliner" but honestly, I like my men manly, and wearing make-up is definitely not manly.
Naw, its OK. Little Richard wore make up and it made him rich. Robert De Niro wears make up during performances and commercials or just to go out. Nobody mistakes him for or calls him gay.
Naturally if someone doesn't like you they'll use your make up in a derogatory fashion to make fun of you. Then you have people who will assume your gay from their first impression but if you sit down and talk to them naturally they'll learn through time that your a regular guy who happens to wear make up.
@KassieintheSkywithDiamonds@xanga - Agreed. I can understand a guy using concealer for acne or bruises or something, but not full-blown makeup. That is just odd and feminine, and I am personally not a fan.
Not wrong. Just gay.
In the end, no woman wants a man competing with them for mirror time.
RE: GAY - Marilyn Manson, Peter Andre,Boy George.
Gay.
Even though I don't wear any myself, I say no... men have worn makeup for centuries. Or should I say millenia.
@KassieintheSkywithDiamonds@xanga - @TropicalOceanSunset@xanga - i am in total agreement. not manly at all.
I think the only time make-up should ever be used on a guy is if there's any pigment discoloration.
Definitely not. >:|
Make up is an art, why are men exempt from it?
I think it's more sissy if you fuss over something small like this.
In usual circumstances, yes
Why not? The Egyptians and the Greeks have worn the guyliner for centuries, right? Even gladiators wore the guyliner and nobody mistook them for sissies.
People can do what they want....I'm not a fan of the guy makeup though. Or Zac Efron.
I THINK IS NOT A PROBLEM.GUYS WHO MALKE UP JA. IT WAS FUNNY xP
I liken it to the short shorts debate. If it's your thing, go for it. I don't like make-up for myself personally, but who am I to knock it for someone else?
If a guy wants to hide a zit or whatever that's totally understandable. BUT! I have seen guys go ahead and wear eyeliner before, I think when they guys do that, they went a little too far.
Maybe if you got some serious acne or something and you wear a little concealer or something. But brishing your face every morning...def requires you to give your manhood up. Just leave it on the table when you go...you won't be needing it anymore...
I don't care whether people paint or don't paint their faces. They can do whatever they like.
Guys in make up eww!
My granddaughters love Troy. I never thought to tell them he wears make up. I think they would say eww!
it's pretty gay. if you want to cover up some nasty pimples, go for it, but other than that... gayer than a football bat. no lies
Do whatever you want. Who gives a shit what others say... it's your face.
I'm a girl and I do not like to wear makeup, so does that make me manly? No. We all have our prefrences. If it looks good, and not silly [like a lot of GIRLS out there] then go for it. =)
as long as you don't look prettier than me, fine
I say yes.
Just not to the extent of say... Zac Effron.
Concealer to hide blemishes is absolutely fine.
I don't think it's "unmanly" at all for a guy, but I like a man who isn't afraid to cry so what I think defines a true man may be different from others. If a guy is excessively vain about his looks, make up or not, that is a definite turn off.
The only makeup that I think is acceptable for men to wear is eye black in sports. Unless its halloween and you wanna paint your face or something. Makeup is for women. But hey, if you wanna wear makeup then go for it, its your life and your choice. I just hope you realize that you'll probably get made fun of on a daily basis, even if its not to your face people will talk about you behind your back wherever you go. We live in a very judgemental society so prepare to be judged.
Not wrong, just EW.
