Women Can Be Guys Too?
I'd like to introduce myself. I love video games. College Humor is one of my favorite sites. I like to down a drink with the guys on movie night and laugh at fart jokes. I am a hardcore gamer. I play volleyball, tennis, and dabble in handball. I am perverted beyond belief.
My name is Yuliya.
I am a girl.
Let's face the facts: Women can be guys too. This is supported by the well-known fact that so many women read Mancouch (a site supposedly for the MAN, I mean look, it even has that word in the name!). It's also supported by people like me.
I bet everybody knows at least one girl who is "one of the guys". I mean, women are conventionally and socially supposed to be the gentler, kinder sex, ones who do not find drawing a mustache on your passed out friend amusing. But some of us do.
How do you guys feel about this role reversal? Who is that woman in your life? (Or is it you?)

I'm one of the guys.
Except, the rest of the guys all also try to hook up with me. haha.
i can't really believe in the stereotypical "guy" or "girl" things. because half the guys i know (straight guys) like chick flicks and talk about their feelings. seriously, one guy got mad at me, and i was trying to talk to him about why he was mad, and he was like, "you know that's not really what i'm about, don't you?" i was like, "seriously? why did you say you were mad about that then?" and he goes, "because you should have known why i was really mad." i proceeded to ask him if he was on his period, and stopped talking.
when it comes to the stereotypical things that guys and girls do, i am a guy.
most of my close friends are guys, and though i still dress like a girl, and i'm not a gamer, i'm ten times worse than most of the guys i know about stuff girls yell at them for. both my sisters are the same way. we're just all super laid back and we don't give a damn. girls stress me out, and i don't wanna deal with them. hanging out with guys just works better.
I grew up as a tom boy
I became a bit girly.. but was still considered one of the guys.
I have traits that are need to be boyish to fit in with the guys
like burp[I've been undefeated]. I drink like a horse. eat like a pig. love video games and can be quite perverted. my room's a hugee mess. My guy friends even invite me for guys night poker.
but i have my girly traits too.
like lovee love love weddings/banquets/etc. i love doing my hair and makeup. and still go screaming when i see a spider or weird insect. Nor can I watch scary movies.
Personally I think its hard for a lot of guys to comprehend that there are girls like us.
I'd rather be balanced in my "boyish-ness" and "girlish-ness". I like video games but I also like going shopping. I don't drink (I hate beer) but I also don't watch or have any interest in Sex and the City. But who said that girls and guys have to be separated that way?
It's kind of funny how so many girls like to be 'one of the guys' but you never hear about guys wanting to be 'one of the girls'.
Most my favorite female friends are the "one of the guys" types.
Blah blah blah. Its only a big deal if you stand on a soap box and blare it at the top of your lungs.... or write about it here on Mancouch.
Gender roles are only an issue when people force them to be. You're not a "tomboy" you're just a geeky chick and thats totally cool with me... and everyone else.
@Kevin_is_a_pirate@xanga - HHAHAHAHAHHAHA--- Powerful observation.
I'm not surprised at the overwhelming number of women who responded to this post. And I know a lot of the ladies here say 'My guy friends all call me 'one of the guys', lalalala bitches.' and I hate to jump the bandwagon- but yeah; one of my favorite compliments is, "Jean, you are such a boy." (Along with, 'you are so not asian.')
And hey; I like that image. But I know chicas who are happy being lil'princess in the tower-- their choice. Women can be guys too; just like men can be girls.
Most of the time though; I don't even think about it.
Of COURSE females can be considered 'men' or 'boys'. Male and female is the 'sex' term, meaning, what parts you're born with. As for the term "men", "women", "boy", etc. That's a gender-specific term. Men are seen in general as males who are tough, eat lightning and crap thunder while women are seen as superficial, fragile beings. I have a thing towards gender-specific terms, so I consider myself androgynous, or as a "boy" when it's convenient (ex: needing to pee really bad, but the girl's room is full because girls apparently need a friend to watch them pee. So I use the men's, also because it's usually closer and I get too lazy to walk that far *shrug*.)
I perfer to be considered as "one of the guys", I wouldn't have it any other way.
@Kevin_is_a_pirate@xanga - Bull crap. It depends whose farting and if it's at the appropriate moment for me. For example: there was a lecture being given to my group by our master. Everyone was participating in it, and it was rather noisy. However, you know when people try to hide their farts amongst loud noises so it wouldn't be heard? My brother let one rip, but the moment he did it, the entire room already went quiet, and all that was heard was an audible 'poooot'.
Result: I cried laughing.
Most girls don't have a sense of humor, blah. Sucks for them. I'm sure there are some awesome females out there who like to burp the alphabet and laugh when people fart in other people's faces while they're sleeping as much as I do.

I was made an honorary man at college and it's something I can still live up to. I guess it kind of help that I'm bisexual, so we can all drool over girls together, haha!
Oh wow. This is fabulous! Me and my friend Aarika just about died when we read this. You have successfully explained what we attempt to convey all the time! Just because we are girls doesn't mean we have to be obsessed with shopping and make up and clothes. I would rather go fishing or camping or play soccer or football than go spend a day at the mall! I hate shopping! I hate getting dressed up! I'd rather cut my own arm off than wear a dress/skirt. I hate heels and I don't wear much make up. I'd rather play some DOA or Spore or WOW than do "girly" things. I'm tattooed and pierced and I live in jeans and t-shirts. Kudos to you! Kudos to you. Wow, sorry I was rambling lol. But still kudos.
i love that kind of woman.
I dont like that term "one of the guys" because regardless, you're gunna do something that is typical of being a girl eventually. Yes, I have "guy" tendancies like you mentioned video games, downing a couple drinks, laughing at stupid jokes (fart jokes are so limited.. you'd be missing out if you didn't include the rest). But when it comes down to it, I am a girl and I act like one when the time comes. I like to dress nice and wear make-up, but when I get home to my buddies, I'll throw on a pair of pajama pants and play flip-cup till I fall over.
Unless you dress like a man and act entirely like a man, you are not "one of the guys." Because regardless, when the time comes you will react like a woman does. Unless your a total butch.
@Kevin_is_a_pirate@xanga - Only if they sound funny. Whats funny about a normal fart? Anxious ones are the best. *squeeeeeee*
@DenimPants@xanga - I've gotten that when having a convo with my two best friends, they're always like "i honestly forget that your a girl sometimes.. i know its obvious physically, but sometimes i dont think about it."
Actually, people call me a hippie more than they tell me I act like a guy hahahaha. I find that odd.
i have a 12 inch penis :D
@Kevin_is_a_pirate@xanga - I do. e__e And the guys see me as so much a part of them that they don't care anymore lol.
@KasumiCelesta@xanga - That's so hilarious because it's true... but guys are so often girlier than girls. Like my fiance... everyone I know has a long standing joke about the fact that my fiance is the girl in the relationship. He loves to get dressed up, he has moodswings (once a month, I swear), he freaks out over bugs, and he LOVES shopping (I HATEHATEHATE shopping).
Isn't it time to get over the long outdated stereotypes? It looks like most of the people here are getting there.
@asdfghjkieu@xanga - LOL.
@erahslover@xanga - That's so true. And I've seen the posts and I debated whether to add on to it... but what pushed me to do it is this: I'm new around the Xanga office, and when I came in and was being introduced to people, it was like this: "This is Yuliya and she is the first hardest level and mancouch editor! Can you believe that?" And everyone ahhed and oohed. Which I just found SO surprising. Not so much their reactions, but the fact that no girl has before felt compelled to write about video games or "guy stuff"?
..So it exists, even if we keep poking and prodding at the topic. But I promise never to write this kind of article again lol! It was just.. necessary. :P
@Kevin_is_a_pirate@xanga - I laugh at them all the time >.>...Then there are guys that look at me weird and move away from me because to them it is only acceptable for guys to be "gross".
I love the picture you used.
i don't think my group of guy friends see me as "one of the guys" because they definitely acknowledge that i'm a girl(constantly) and when we play fight, they take it easy as not to hurt me. but they feel comfortable enough to do whatever in front of me. i was in the car with my 3 guy friends trying to get back home (worst 2 hours of my life.. guys don't listen to you when you're lost), and my friend farted and he goes "why do i not even care that i just farted in front of her? if it was any other girl, i'd be totally embarrassed"
i like that they feel like they can do (almost)whatever/say (almost) whatever in front of me. it wouldn't be as fun to hang out with them if they were always guarded
Welp, I'm a duder, and I'm "one of the girls" because I am a big sissy of sorts!
Girls can be guys, just like guys can be bitches.
i'm into a lot of guy stuff, but i'm definitely not "one of the guys." there's a balance i guess...
