  • List of Awkward moments

So my friend made a list of awkward moments and posted it online. It made me double over in a laughter when I realized that I, too have experienced this...

    1. saying "you too" when it isn't needed:

say, when ur at a restaurant and u are told to enjoy your meal and you say "you too"

    2. line humping

we've all done it...accidentally humping the person in front of u in line
    for example..
I was at dorney park a couple weeks ago and i was waiting to get on a water slide,
    it was a long line....
at some point i saw that the line was beginning to move again so i took a step...
    but it was too SOON
i kinda violated the woman in front of me...
then, a painfull silence hovered over that section of the line...
I KNOW that after that experience, she will never feel the same way about water slides

    3. using a cell phone as a defense mechanism

i do this all the time...
say i'm walking down the sidewalk(no one walks down the street in the real world)
as i walk i see a bum, hobo,ho, crack fiend, or generally anyone i know who would bother me
    at first i'm like:
i know he gonna ask me for something i just know it shit he's like 10 feet and closing in on me...
so i whip out de ol' samsung and just go:
"hello, heeyyyy, damn son, i ain't know it was at 8, shit i better hurry or else i'm gonna be late, aight man i'll see u there son peace."
creating fake phone conversations to save you some change is a useful but sad technique...

    4. elevator silence
have you ever been on an elevator talking to someone, and then someone else walks in and then everyone shuts up...
    this strange phenomenon fuckin wierd...

you could be having the best conversation in the world but as soon as someone else walks in.... it's like
(oh shit shut up he might hear us)
i never understood why we do this but we do it... test it out will see how uncomfortable it is to talk in an elevator while someone u don't know is in it

If you enjoyed this, feel free to message me, ALL suggestions are welcome.   I suggest you do not try out anything that was spoken of.

Well, one night I went to return my books to the library. I went with my friend. So on our way out we see this group of people who are laughing loudly, throwing things around, and acting downright obnoxious. It was rather late in the evening - 10 PM or so.
So, the smartass that I usually am, I look at them and say in a somewhat loud voice: "Pffft! What a bunch of retards!"
My friend looks at me, blinking rapidly, and says:
"Ummm... They are a bunch of retards..."
I look more closely and what do you know! It's a group of mentally challenged people out for a walk with their supervisors... Oy... Let's just say, I walked very fast. Oh hell, I ran away from that library! So yeah... Still feeling weird when I think about it.

how about when you're walking and someone else is coming walking towards you and so you'd have to either sidestep left or right, but then you decide to sidestep left, but they also sidestep in that direction. and it's repeated, until it's like an awkward dance or until someone just stops and has to hold you down to keep you still so they can walk around you.

or when you're walking with someone and you think you're about to go in different directions, so you say bye to them. but then you realize you're still walking the same way and you wonder if you should start another conversation when you just said bye to them.

@LLBean@xanga - Hahahahaha. I unfortunately do both those things quite often. >_<

  • shauna100@xanga

    i lolled.
    i've done all these :L

  • Liquid_Pain_523@xanga

My favorite is "Well, goodbye, see you tomorrow! Oh you're walking in this direction too? Cool..."

And then there's that famous "I don't know your name but I've been talking to you for too long to ask again so I'll hope someone else says it."

I love awkwardness. Sometimes I create awkward situations on purpose.

  • TheScaleDiaries@xanga

I've done 1 and 3 A LOT (especially in college since there were bums that hung around the main road right off campus).

As for 4, I'm one of those people who doesn't stop talking, but the person I'm talking with (usually my boyfriend) shuts up when someone new gets on the elevator so then I appear to be talking loudly to myself the whole time cause I get no response from the other person save a smile or a nod while the stranger just tries to avoid looking as if they're listening in.

One akward moment that happened a lot in college was running into friends on their way home or to class, chatting for a bit and then saying, "Goodbye" and both of us would end up walking in the sam direction (I would always point this akward moment out so we could laugh the weirdness away, but yea that's an interesting predicament).

  • IdoNtDiE@xanga

lol i've done all three at least twice!
yeah i do the cell phone thing when i'm walking through the malls to avoid the people who spray cologne on me >.<

  • selfnote@xanga

nvr had the line humping but it's worth a laugh lol

  • C_UNIT42@xanga

@doLc3@xanga - that happened to me last night when i left work. sooo awkward!

  • discoxapples@xanga

@BunnyParfait@xanga - haha, definitely. I try to continue talking...but I find that it's the OTHER people who feel awkward. Lol.

And on the post, I have something that can be a bit weird, not really embarrassingly awkward, but still weird. Like, when you're with a big group of people, and then someone says something funny, and then everyone laughs, and stops at the same time. There's like...this moment where everyone is quiet, and trying to think of something to say, but everyone tends to stop laughing at the same time, and then there's silence. It's so weird. But when you notice it, it's a bit funny.

And, to add to the line humping thing, it's also awkward when the line is tight, and like, the person in front of you turns around to say something to someone behind you. Or, when you see that there's a long line, and then you see your friend telling you to come up in line with them, and you have to squeeze through everyone else...that's a bit awkward, because it's like, they're probably irritated at you for cutting.
Haha, I live for these moments.
  • Roadlesstaken@xanga

Haha hey, there's no accidental erection part that you had in the original!

haha my friend and i have so many awkward moments that we actually created a blog for them all. (although we keep forgetting to update it)

so far we have about 20 situations that have happened to us. you can read them if you want:

  • jupiter312@xanga

Haha, I do those all the time.  I'm especially bad about the first one...especially on my birthday.

    "Happy birthday!"
"You too!  Um, I mean, wait, it's only my birthday.  Um, bye now."

  • brokensoul42@xanga

guilty of all except line humping. HAHAHA.

one that happens to me frequently is i'll have a geius idea pop in my head when amongst friernds, and i'll be like, "hey! wouldn't it be sweet if...." or "have you ever thought about..." or "remember that time we..." and everyone just looks at you like you're crazy.

then there was this one time i called my friend melanie and started talking about something we had discussed before, and she was like, "whaaaaat?" then it dawned on my i was talking to the wrong melanie and i was like, "ohhhh i'm so sorry! i thought i called the other melanie!" and ther was this long awkward silence followed by awkward pity chatting. it was extremely embarrasing.

When you're on the subway/bus and you are forced to stare at the person across from you.

  • Eldheler@xanga

hahaha, you can just tell 'bums' "godbless" it's like some unwritten code...they bless you back and continue on their way...it's almost fascinating.

  • gwaceee@xanga

i do the thing with the cell phone all the time on campus... when clubs/people want to talk to you/hand you flyers while walking to class

  • RaquelHiggins005@xanga

@beetunes@xanga - yeah me too, I was temtped but eh

@Broken_Beautiful@xanga - What's your line of work? And yeah I do that from time to time

@beforedawn@xanga - lol I should try the two floor higher than building one. I bet the reactions are fucking hilarious

@BunnyParfait@xanga - LOL that sounds like me

@doLc3@xanga - LOL that happened to me other day when I was taking my mom to the store. I wanted to say something but they looked like they were avoiding my eyes

@Jada2@xanga - We need more people like your second story in this world lol

  • RaquelHiggins005@xanga

@LonerB@xanga - LOL that's embarrasing as hell. Idk why that reminded me, but another akward moment is when you wave to someone and realize you don't know them...

@LLBean@xanga - lol that happens to me a lot. There's also when you think someone's talking to you and find out its the person behind you...

@Liquid_Pain_523@xanga - LOL that's like this guy I know, he always said hi to me and talked to me like I'm his friend but I'd turn around and go, "How do I know him?"

@discoxapples@xanga - LOL I've experienced all of those too. someone always just go. "Awkward silence..." and we start laughing again.

  • RaquelHiggins005@xanga

@Roadlesstaken@xanga - I know! And that's the most wrothwhile part! lol
