  • Musings on Artificial Sleep

So a couple of nights ago I've heard my fish talk to me. No shit. No, I do not have a wonder-fish and neither can I communicate with fauna habitat mysteriously. All the wonderful out-of-this-world experiences I've had (watering my lawn and not remembering it in the morning; taking all my shoes out of the boxes and arranging them neatly on the table; talking to my fish, etc.) I owe to my wonderful friend Ambien. See, I've been having troubles sleeping so I got this prescription. It's awesome and I can sleep.

Of course there is a big BUT. That tiny little pill knocks you out faster than you can sing "I Love You" with Barney. So after taking the pill and washing it down with a nice little glass of Merlot (yes, I am smart like that) sit back and enjoy your conversations with dead people, animals, fish, and sometimes even the trees. Btw, trees can be very good listeners - they never interrupt and they always agree with your point of view.

Also if you ever try that white chemical wonder, go ahead and try talking to someone on the messenger. It's fun in a bucket. Typing becomes incredibly challenging. Seriously, the word "phone" will look something like "lbfge". Try to decipher that in the morning! And then you decide "Screw typing! It's way too hard! I'll just make a couple of phone calls instead!" So you call your friend and you have absolutely the best idea!! You are excited beyond belief and you can't believe you never thought of that before. What's the idea, you may ask? Why, my friends... Scrabble of course!! I mean, what could be more fun than inviting your friend with a couple of two year olds to stay at your house overnight just so you and the kiddies can play Scrabble?!

So yeah... I wonder if my dogs will have something meaningful to say anytime soon. I bet they will. And Immanuel Kant will weep with jealousy!!

Anyone else out there had spiritual experiences while on prescription meds?

    • About Me: I love writing, making stuff up and such. I am fairly good at it or so I've been told. I collect swords and knives and I am not squeamish about violence or blood. I obsess a lot and very easily. I am stubborn, short-tempered, and very open minded. Just because I won't do something, doesn't mean I won't accept it from someone else. Go ahead, try and shock me. Not gonna happen.
