I've always liked the name bella, and thought about naming a daughter that before the book, but i'd feel ridiculous doing it now

  • sgdreams@xanga

Lol I like the name Jasper from the books, but I liked that name before then so yeah... but after the books, I'd never name my kid any of that.

people are so pissed off that twilight is everywhere yet you are the people who are spreading it. so contradicting. anyway, edward and bella are both lovely names and if it wasn't for twilight, i would totally name my children that. i don't mind twilight but i know haters would automatically think i named my children after the characters. coooool.

  • anonymous

question! what about the other names in the book? carlisle, jasper, alice, esme, emmet, jacob, rosalie, etcccccc. then we'll truly know if it's a twilight trend.

  • cowpokemcr@xanga

yes. i would name my kids that. perhaps. i think they're great books.

  • quickxsavexme@xanga

    Nope.
I wanna name my kids Christofer Robin and Jamie.

  • into_something_beautiful@xanga

Her actually name is Isabella, which is ranked #2 in 2008!

I wouldn't name my son Edward, but I actually really love the
name Isabella. Theres something I like about Italian names aha.

I see no problem with naming your child after a character you
especially liked, be it in Twilight or anything else.  I was named
after Samantha on Bewitched, and I plan to name my son Alexander (and
call him Xander) after Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  I'd name
my daughter Cordelia or Anya, but that'd just be too weird to have them
    both.

@I_ChooseThin@xanga - You know what I mean. I just don't get it. The book practically rapes literature. The characters are shallow, and the only reason they exist is so that they could FALL IN LOVE. I just absolutely can't take it anymore. They just destroyed my image of vampires forever, all because some teeny-bopper girls gathered by the millions and thought this poorly-written, fan-fiction-like book was the most amazing thing since sliced bread.

    Epic win: http://funnyjunk.com/funny_pictures/23315/Fish+Smell/

I just wished people stopped talking about it. GOD. I thought this was MANCOUCH.

Heeeck no. Edward is a cool name and all but after all this hype, not so much. Bella was never a good name in my book. My boyfriend and I have compromised on naming our kid, son or daughter, The Vindicator of Death. Sounds SO much better in a classroom where everyone is going to be referred to as Bella (insert first letter of last name here).

  • venomxcupcake@xanga

No thanks... I hate Twilight ¬_¬ plus it's kinda lame really. It's not very special or imaginative.

  • S4LT@xanga

HELL NO.  Twilight sucks.  A huge disgrace.  Dracula is probably rolling in his grave right now!

when i was really little i liked the name Isabella because it can be abbreviated in different ways (Izzy, Bell, Bella, i even once met a "Sabel" and later learned her full name was Isabella) but i don't like it now.

however, i think Bella would be a pretty name for a cat.

Twilight wouldn't be inspiration for naming my children.

  • OhSnapItsMadz@xanga

i had bella picked out as a name for one of my kids for a long time, because it means "beautiful" in italian. but now twilight has kind of warped it, so i don't think i'll be using it any time soon.

    suree=]

@KrazeeKunoichi009@xanga - I wish people would stop bashing Twilight constantly, it's getting old. Books can fill any of a hundred niches in literature. Not every book has to be great and not every book was made for you and your tastes. The book was meant for twelve/thirteen year olds who aren't reading great literature yet, do you really expect them to be reading Steinbeck, Rand, Fitzgerald, Dickens, etc? At least Twilight got young people reading, which seems like an ever more difficult battle these days. Perhaps it's only preparation for Austen or Bronte in the future.

As for the older readers, not everybody can read good or great literature all the time. Sure, the plot and characters in Twilight are shallow; it is an escapist novel. I don't hear many adults claiming that it's great literature - instead they say that it's a "fun read" or a "guilty pleasure.:

Twilight appealed to it's target group. It got it's job done. If you don't like it, don't read it and don't recommend it to your friends. But I don't think you can say that it's "raping" literature, it's simply fulfilling another purpose in the wide spectrum that is literature.

Anyway, as to the names Edward and Bella, I never liked either of them and seeing as I'm not a huge Twilight fan, I don't like them anymore now.

I like the name Bella, or Isabella, but if I were to name my child that, it wouldn't be because of that. I just think it's a really pretty name.

But no, I wouldn't name my kid Edward. I don't know, I just wouldn't name my kid that.

  • thgd@xanga

The names I choose for my children will be names that I feel best personify my flesh and blood--just because there is a character in a movie with the same name deson't mean that my child is any less special. Pop culture is not a dictating force on such personal decisions for me. If it bothers you that someone has named their child after a character in a film, remember this: when you have your own child, you can name it whatever it is that you choose. Until then, let the new parents name their children the way they wish and be still about it.

  • MiniAvrilLavigne8@xanga

The Twilight Saga is awesome and addicting. If you hate Twilight so much why do you dedicate a post to it??  I know you can have your own opinions but, how many "Let's Hate Twilight" posts can you have?

  • alwaysjessielove@xanga

Why in the HELL should a book influence what you do or do not name your kids? If you like Edward, name your kid Edward. If you like phuk, by god name your kid phuk. You might want to homeschool him, but that's just your choice to make. If I were to have a baby girl and named her Isabella (which I wouldn't, I've already got the name I want in mind), which I think is a great name, it wouldn't be because of the Twilight series. Personally, I like Twilight, mainly because I like to read and its an easy read. However, no one should be judged based on what or why they name their children what they do.

  • tokyoexpressman@xanga

For the love of all that is holy, Mancouch, STOP featuring posts on Twilight.

  • teddynsnoopy@xanga

i don't like the name bella because it reminds me of bellatrix from harry potter. edward just sounds too formal... like richard.
