  • I'm losing sleep because I'm addicted to Lost

When Lost first started airing on ABC, I saw the first few episodes and thought it was pretty good.  Then I missed one episode and it threw everything off.  I tried getting back into it a few episodes later and of course I missed a whole bunch of important stuff so I couldn't keep up.  Those were the days when I only had dial-up (my family is slow to adjust) and so I couldn't watch them online either.  So for years Lost wasn't a part of my life.  Of course, I heard whispers about it all the time.  I would hear people talking about how excited they were about the fact that it was going to be on that night, and discussing the unanswered questions the next day.  But I ignored everything and all but forgot about it.

Earlier this week, in a fit of trying to find something interesting to watch, I stumbled across the ABC web page, where every. single. episode. of Lost is available for streaming.  Totally free.  "Do I really want to do this?"  I asked myself.  "You know it's just going to be like the time you discovered Arrested Development."  The answer to both questions was yes.  Except Lost has more episodes, so it's going to be even worse.

At this point I'm not quite done with the first season and I'm averaging about 3 hours of sleep a night.  But it's too addictive.  As soon as I say "okay only one more episode" the episode ends with a cliffhanger and I just give in to temptation.  I know they do that on purpose to suck you in but the lack of sleep is causing me to see things that aren't really there.  Like the entire cast of Frasier just rappelled from my ceiling fan.  And I don't even watch Frasier.

Have you ever sacrificed your sleep and your sanity for something like Lost?

oh yes; House, Bones & The Nanny keep me from sleeping. it's awful, especially when I don't turn off until 4am. =/

    But I can't help it; I love television :)

I did the EXACT same thing with Lost! Lol. I had NEVER seen it last winter, I found it online and was HOOKED. I lost A LOT of sleep getting through all the seasons, but I am all caught up now!

nothing wrong with missing sleep for a good cause ;)

Definitely.  I wasn't allowed to watch season 2 for a while b/c my ex bf (the asian hotel dude) was on it, so I missed a huge chunk of the story, but made sense of it later.  At least Lost is the kind of show that's worth losing sleep for. =)

Lost was my ENTIRE summer last year... it was awesome! My bf introduced me to season one... this was after our senior year of HS so we had no plans... I was so hooked (yes the cliffhangers!) it was always "just one more episode.... I need to find out..." not that you ever find out...  I still haven't and I'm finally caught up.

I'll tell you this, its SO much cooler to watch it like you are (and how I did last summer) cause its a bitch waiting for it each week and THEN, NOW for a whole year! One more season... I'm going to cry -__-

Yes! I have lol. It's crazy when you only get a few hours of sleep just so you can watch a programme you're addicted to. I've done it with both Lost and Supernatural. I done it with Lost coz the UK are behind the US so I watch em online once they've aired in America.
