When Lost first started airing on ABC, I saw the first few episodes and thought it was pretty good. Then I missed one episode and it threw everything off. I tried getting back into it a few episodes later and of course I missed a whole bunch of important stuff so I couldn't keep up. Those were the days when I only had dial-up (my family is slow to adjust) and so I couldn't watch them online either. So for years Lost wasn't a part of my life. Of course, I heard whispers about it all the time. I would hear people talking about how excited they were about the fact that it was going to be on that night, and discussing the unanswered questions the next day. But I ignored everything and all but forgot about it.
Earlier this week, in a fit of trying to find something interesting to watch, I stumbled across the ABC web page, where every. single. episode. of Lost is available for streaming. Totally free. "Do I really want to do this?" I asked myself. "You know it's just going to be like the time you discovered Arrested Development." The answer to both questions was yes. Except Lost has more episodes, so it's going to be even worse.
At this point I'm not quite done with the first season and I'm averaging about 3 hours of sleep a night. But it's too addictive. As soon as I say "okay only one more episode" the episode ends with a cliffhanger and I just give in to temptation. I know they do that on purpose to suck you in but the lack of sleep is causing me to see things that aren't really there. Like the entire cast of Frasier just rappelled from my ceiling fan. And I don't even watch Frasier.
Have you ever sacrificed your sleep and your sanity for something like Lost?

haha thats pretty epic. I've also avoided lost for those reasons. Good luck with your addiction :D
i dont even got a tv :p lol
I've had the same problem. Fortunately for me, I'm all caught up. =D
Ahaha. The exact same thing happened to me. I've got some bad news for you... the entire 5th season isn't on the website. I believe it's only 3 episodes. So when you get to season 5, you will be very disappointed.Â
Oh, and it's happened to me twice. Once about half way through the 5th season, and then when the 5th season was over.
I didn't like the 5th season. However, can't wait for the 6th and final season.
OH MY GOD! LOST IS SOOOOOO GOOD! I'm only on the second season (my boyfriend got me addicted and we rent the dvds from the library) but I am soo addicted and I love it!
I was addicted to lost back in May... In June I was dealing with House. I think I'll try Supernatural next.
I used to wake up at 5 in the morning because Dragon Ball Z came on :)
I'm a Lost fan too :)
Keep on truckin'! It's worth it. Tis my favorite show.
like when i watched 3 seasons of heroes in a few weeks? lol.
i had that problem...when i discoved lost, it was during finals week. that was certainly not a good combination hahaha.
@Roadlesstaken@xanga - I had a feeling you'd comment on this post :) I stopped watching the episodes after Season 3...I think I LOST interest haha
haha wow, sucks for you.
@strawberries_and_honey@xanga - Blasphemy! Well I did tell you it slowed down around that point, but it starts picking back up later in Season 3. Keep on watching!
hahaha the exact same thing happened to me with Smallville. My friend had all 7 seasons on dvd and i started borrowing them from her. I ended up watching every single episode and it took me almost 2 months, and this was while school was still in so my grades started suffering too. ill never do that again haha
That's *exactly* what happened to me when I first started watching Lost.
I watched all five seasons in three months 0_0;
how many seasons has lost been on? i havent seen one episode but i think that might be my summer goal..
i do this with asian dramas hahaha.
and some other cool shows.
i feel you. :)
At least you're addicted to a show that isn't mind-numbing. It actually requires intelligence to watch - the reason that it isn't as popular as it could be.
It's a fantastic show. I was/am completely obsessed, and have been since the first season. I finally got my boyfriend into it (he used to make fun of me all the time for loving the show), and once he watched the pilot, he couldn't stop. We both watched seasons 1-4 straight through, averaging five episodes a night, but sometimes eight or nine on weekends. I own seasons 1-4 (and have pre-ordered 5). I know I'll be devastated when the series ends... there is absolutely nothing comparable. If you haven't watched it, you just don't understand (and I'm sure there are people who are glad they don't... but when I get to decide between watching MTV or another scripted "reality" show, I don't know how anyone in their right mind wouldn't watch this show).
My hubby and I started watching Lost last year from the beginning. He downloaded it so we could watch it on our media server. Those cliffhangers really ruined our routines, it was awful! We got to the last episode of the third season, and it was in EFFING SPANISH!! We haven't gotten around to downloading the right one, and I'd really like to start it up again, but we're just too busy! When we move out of his parents house, I'm sure we'll start it up again. Stay strong! Take naps!
@Eva_Oliver@xanga - I'm a Supernatural junkie. I have to watch it every single day, and I'm literally going insane waiting for the next season to start. You've been warned...
@wherestherum_17@xanga - Thanks for the warning. I haven't watched many yet. My husband has the seasons on DVD, but I have only watched the first two episodes of the first season. I'm making a weekend of it.
