The other night, a friend and I were at a bar. She ordered a Blue Moon and I ordered a G-and-T. When the bartender returned, he handed us our drinks and said: "Blue Moon for the lady, and a gin-and-tonic for her sorority sister."
I was frickin' pissed. At what point did a gin-and-tonic become a girlie drink? It's not even that sweet! Vodka tonics, maybe. But gin is a man's drink, the kind of thing you'd order on the Atlantic City boardwalk in the 1950s before gambling away your wife's wedding ring. And compared to her Blue Moon? COME ON!
I don't know. I'm still fuming. What do you think? Is a gin-and-tonic manly, girlie, or neither?

Hm. I find Gin very bitter, and unless it has quite a lot of citrus added (or use Lime Gin), I don't particularly like the puckering taste. I never thought it was a girly drink though, fruity sex on the beach's and cosmos are girly..
Regardless what drink you ordered that bartender verbally raped you.
Mans drink, and I'd pummel the screw behind the bar for saying otherwise.
I'd rather have a Jack & Coke.
Well i`m always down for a Gin and Ton but I dont see it as being a girly drink only because I dont think I know 1 other chick, that isn't a total alcoholic (you know.. they'll drink anything), that likes it.
He was just razzin you, and obviously it workedIf its a girly drink, it`ll come in a girly glass, and as your picture shows, G&T doesn`t.
OOh no..!! Ouch! My guy friend orders that drink all the time... When I think of Gin and Tonic, I think of a man's drink.
Drinks are drinks.
I've always thought of it as a gentlemanly drink.
1 gin and tonic please
I feel like its a man's drink. The ONLY way I'll drink gin is in a Tom Collins, and then it doesn't taste like gin :)
Gin & Tonic is my drink of choice (if I'm not drinking beer)
I am not a man.
You do the math.
Honestly, though, I DEFINITELY don't think it's a girlie drink. To me, it's more of a power drink. I started drinking them in undergrad, thinking that since a lot of lawyers drink them, I should learn to like them so when I became a lawyer, I wasn't the 'wuss' of the group. Now, I genuinely enjoy the drink (and yes, I'm a lawyer now) - it's refreshing, classic, and simple. What more do you need?
@fLiPgUy31O@xanga - lol. yes sir.
hennessyyy......goose..goose....bacardi... soju...JAGER BOMBS BABY
*shuts up her mouth now.*
it depends on the ratio of gin to lime. this girl bartender made it for my friend and i got mine made from the dude. mine tasted a whole lot more bitter and he put way more gin in mine. my friend's was really too sweet. the bitter it is, the more manly it is. and the more alcohol its got, the more manly it is.
I don't think its girlie, but i've notice a lot of females do drink gin&tonic.
I would of had a rumble with the bartender if he said that to me!
Gin and Tonic is manly. Gin an tonic is classy. Gin and Tonic is what a real man with hair on his chest and a boat captain hat on drinks. That bartender is a failure at life.
I don't think G & T is a girly drink. I drink it too and so does my fiance and a his friends. I agree with everybody here, the bartender was just jerking your chains and it worked. However I heard that people refer to G & T as a "grandma's or aunty's (basically just someone who is old)" drink.
If gin isn't manly anymore, well then fuck this planet. Gin and tonic fo life
yea. sounds like an ass of a bartender. gin and tonic is a manly drink. i dont even consider vodka tonics girly really...
I've never had a gin and tonic... Heard many ppl saying they like em...more guys than girls tho... **shrugs**
i've seen guys order them, but rarely. perhaps that is more the case.
It had nothing to do with your drink; he just sounds like one of those douche bags who is overly masculine and uses any opportunity to look like the bigger alpha male. Next time you go to that bar, just fight fire with fire; that's his game.
The fact that you wrote this blog shows that the bartender won. He was just jerking yer chains.
*this is a true story* after posting earlier I went to the bar where I work and ordered a G&T and nobody around even blinked including the bartender, after a while I asked him what a blue moon was, while explaining the drink I stood up and stated that I was going to have a woman's drink, blue moon!... bar tender shrugged his shoulders and made me that horrible thing {in my opinion}
still nobody even glanced at me, I spent $16 on drinks to prove that I could! every body clear on Gin and tonic now?
HA HA HA HA!
@immaairheadxl@xanga - Have you tried Grand Marnier and Bailey's? I think you'd like that.
it's fantastic!
different views for diff people, to the bartender he might feel it's girly, to you it might be the other way round, so chill !
