  • Which July movie are you most excited for?

I think it's safe to say that, so far, the Summer 2009 movie season has paled in comparison to its predecessor. Last year was rife with huge blockbuster movies, from Wall-E to The X-Files: I Want to Believe to The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (I was shocked with how damn good it was). While each of those movies was a big deal in its own right, Summer 2008 was dominated by the superheroes: Iron Man kicked off a series of superhero flicks that ranged from the ridiculous (Wanted) to the sublime (The Dark Knight). Claiming the biggest opening weekend in history, not to mention setting a long list of other records, The Dark Knight holds firmly to its prestigious (get it?) honor as the biggest movie ever.

Which brings us to this summer. So far, not great. Star Trek was truly excellent, garnering Oscar talk following the decision to increase the number of Best Picture contenders to 10. Up was pretty good, and Wolverine straight-up blew.

July is the month for summer blockbusters, usually dominated by the 4th of July weekend releases (which are usually dominated by Will "Mr. July" Smith). Looking at the upcoming releases for the month, I can't help but feel a tiny bit disappointed. Don't get me wrong: there is definitely cause for excitement: Public Enemies, BrĂ¼no, Harry Potter, Funny People.

Here are two questions I'm wondering about: First, how well do you think these movies will do? And second, which are you most excited to see? Check here for a full list of upcoming movies.
