  • Chubby Guys, Hot Girls

One of the injustices of modern day Hollywood is that chubby guys are often paired with ridiculously hot women in TV and movies.

Five examples that prove my point:

    1. King of Queens

Kevin James is a chubby comic who is married to the ridiculously attractive (for him) Leah Remini.

    2. Knocked Up

Unemployed and chubby pothead Seth Rogen gets drunk at a club with the ridiculously hot (by anyone's standards) Katherine Heigl.

I love how guys can always get hot girls if they are funny.

    3. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery

Mike Myers is a chubby but funny spy who hooks up with the smokin' hot Elizabeth Hurley.

Elizabeth doesn't look that great here, so we'll share a pic from Bedazzled, where she co-stars with slightly chubby Brendan Fraser.

    (You're welcome.)

    4. Zach and Miri make a Porno

Seth Rogen (yet again) hooks up with relative hottie Elizabeth Banks.

Basically any movie with Seth proves this theory, so I'll just move on.

    5. Forgetting Sarah Marshall

Jason Segel sleeps with the yummy Mila Kunis (I suppose Kristen Bell also counts as attractive).

Hollywood's lesson to us all: if you are a funny guy, it doesn't matter what you look like.

Any other chubby guys/hot girl Hollywood couples to add to the list?

i don't know but I DISAGREE!!!!!!!!!!! see, they don't have to be just funny. but it goes a long way.

They think that people will think it's "cute" and an "anamoly" that skinny girls go for the chubby guys (and vice versa).  I think it's just a stupid trend.  So unrealistic!  Knocked up really SUCKED by the way.  Chubby guy with hot girl being only one of 100 reasons why.  I couldn't even force myself to laugh at that movie.

  • DizzyDeathSpiral@xanga

Totally loved this post. :D It's really adorable, and I don't care if it's a trend, I like it. Has anyone noticed that it's sometimes vise versa, too? I saw an article somewhere about really fit, muscular guys going for chubby/curvier girls. People always want what they aren't. :]

    It's all about the money

We were wondering the other day why it seems stick-skinny, white males are frequently spotted with significantly 'larger' women.

  • lorilidotcom@xanga

I'm NOT gonna say I'm a 'hot girl' but I will tell you that I have been asked more than once why I was dating a fat guy, or asked "what I see" in someone I was seeing.  I can tell you that I like big men, not sloppy gross, just large and yea, that probably means over the ideal weight.  But large men make me feel protected.  Maybe that's weird, I dunno but I feel soooo safe.

  • TransportPhenomena@xanga

    aaaah, Elizabeth Hurley.  Sigh.

  • xa06@xanga

I've loved Jason Segal ever since his Freaks and Geeks days <3

That's how I feel. Funny guys will totally outdo hot, cocky assholes any day fo me. And Brendan Frasier is HOT thank you. So is seth rogan. I'd do both of em. One at a time. Also that other guy- with Mila Kunis , who was in freaks and geeks. LOVE him too.

I've dated large men (not necessarily obese) in the past. To me, they are a lot more understanding of body image and are less concerned about how hot their women look in comparison to what society thinks. Sure, they think the slim women that are beautiful are hot but they know that there's more to a relationship than what you see on the outside. If the woman can accept her man the way he is, he also accepts the woman for who she is.

There's a guy I've gotten to know for the past couple of years that proves what I'm saying. I don't think I'm attractive and I have body image issues (to the point that I have a slight eating disorder) and he has helped me feel sexy both inside and out. We aren't in a relationship because we're long-distance but if we lived nearby, we would totally date.

On that sidenote, I always thought Seth Rogen is handsome. People don't understand when I tell them this because they think I would say someone like Brad Pitt. Seth Rogen (and other men who look more normal) are more attractive to me. He also reminds me of my long-distance friend, haha.

    Mike Myers isn't chubby though...
and Mila Kunis is one hot bitch

  • kimtendo@xanga

This is partly true, being funny is extremely important.
But I'm not sure about the chubby aspect of this.

I wouldn't want someone to date or not date me based purely on how I look, so why would I do that to a guy? I've had someone tell me I'm "out of their league" for some of these same reasons, but it was something I'd honestly never thought about until he brought it up. I date who I feel connected to, period.

The same is true for both guys and girls, personality and confidence is always sexy.

I think the bigger issue missing in this post is that shows like King of Queens...even Family Guy and The Simpsons, match intelligent, attractive, and caring women with dumb, slobby, insensitive pricks. And when the husband does something obscenely stupid or unkind, its always the woman who rights the wrong and takes him back. Hmm.

P.S. - Seth Rogen is hot.

@lorilidotcom@xanga - Well some big guys are like teddy bears...Cute, cuddly, and ferocious when protecting their family. -_^

  • King_of_The_Night@xanga

@randompearls@xanga - Werd. I think you hit the real issue on the nose.

  • SlackerSociety@xanga

@RaabzBaby89@xanga - not really. It tries to project a message that women want guys for, you know, who they actually are. Hey, I've been lied to before, no big deal. But think about it this way: the media is projecting women to be more beautiful, whereas in turn encouraging guys to let themselves go. Seems a bit unfair to the women in my opinion.
@crystal_air@xanga - they have lower self esteem, easier lays. or at least that's what the stereotype encompasses.
@drop_of_sunshine@xanga -  "I've dated large men (not necessarily obese)
in the past. To me, they are a lot more understanding of body image and
are less concerned about how hot their women look in comparison to what
    society thinks.
    "
That's because they were realistic in picking their women, is why they were more understanding. they understood that beggars can't be choosers, unlike some of my larger guy friends who seem to think different.
    @randompearls@xanga - "I date who I feel connected to, period. "
So would you feel a connection to a "dumb, slobby, insensitive prick?"
I think that those shows it just gives a lighter portrayal for comedic value. plus, you cant put women into those roles, they would be unlikeable. but since men are "stereotypically" less mature than women, the media simply plays into this.

  • coolmonkey@xanga

Writers tend to write about their fantasy version of how life should work.  And since most of them are chubby, geeky, and dream of hot women, it's no real mystery how they pump out these formulas.

Also, it seems that women don't place as much emphasis on the looks of men when compared to personality and financial status, whereas men tend to place 99% of their criteria on the appearances of women.  So this situation isn't as ridiculous as you think.  I see plenty of geeks/chubbies with disproportionately hot girlfriends.

  • xx_ng_xx@xanga

i kinda wonder that too, but I guess it just makes the movies a little bit cuter maybe? my guy's not chubby, but he certainly is a lot bigger than me. my friends think that it's cute.

  • magnugget@xanga

well afterall, it all boils down to personality, characteristics and stuff like that.
    Look is just something physical..

  • randompearls@xanga

@Gerald_Washington@xanga - Simple answer, no i would not. Unless I was somehow accidentally handcuffed to one. Dumb and insensitive aren't exactly engaging traits that make me want to know more.

But I think you're right; it's not a "trend" or an "anomaly", it just shows that liking a person for who they are is healthy and normal...This applies to both men and women.

  • Filipendulous@xanga

All of those guys make their wives/girlfriends laugh...A lot. In girl world, that's a big deal.

  • a_single_raindrop@xanga

But in those movies/shows, there is always something endearing about the guys that attracts the girls to them.

Another show is According to Jim. They even talk about it a lot "how did I manage to land such a hot wife?" ... "jim married up, cheryl married down" etc.
