Mancouch Lost Gem: In Bruges
Mancouch readers, I'm writing this in reference to a movie that I'm pretty sure a lot of you missed, my first nominee as a Mancouch Lost Gem: In Bruges. Here's the trailer:
This was a movie that deserved a lot better. It never got a really wide release in theaters when it came out (I saw it in a tiny one in NYC), it wasn't really well-marketed at all. and as a result, obviously, not very many people saw it. It didn't even make its relatively small budget back, only making about $8 million. Those who did, however, really liked it: It's currently at 81% on Rotten Tomatoes, and the script got nominated for an Oscar. Any of my friends that I've told about it really seem to like it as well, and so I'm passing it on to you. A short summary from Wikipedia: "During his first job, fledgling hitman Ray (Colin Farrell) accidentally kills a young boy. He and his senior colleague Ken (Brendan Gleeson) are sent to Bruges by their high-strung employer Harry Waters (Ralph Fiennes), and told to await further instructions."
That might not sound like much. But to that, you add:
*Drugs. A lot of drugs.
*The hot girl that Ray meets in Bruges (of course), Chloe:
*A midget (specifically, this midget):
*A fair amount of action, and a larger amount of ridiculous circumstances.
*And finally, an overload of hilarious one-liners, none of which I can actually write here because most, if not all of them are pretty raunchy.
Seriously, I really encourage you guys (girls too) to check this one out, as it was criminally overlooked last year. I don't want to get into too much detail over it, because I wouldn't want to ruin anything, but I think that the average Mancouch reader would really enjoy it. Are there any other movies that you guys would want to recommend as Mancouch Lost Gems?

Honestly.. this isn't a "Lost" gem.... I know more people who have heard/ watched it than not. Even with the rather low key release, word of it has spread beyond being lost.
I love this movie. I watched it for the first time a few months ago and was really surprised by it.
I saw it a while ago, I thought it was pretty good... not my favorite movie ever, but it had a lot going for it, admittedly.
This was definitely a surprisingly good film. I didn't expect myself to laugh as much to this. Very good dark comedy.
I am a huge fan of the plays of Martin McDonagh and was thrilled to hear that he was making a film. Then I saw it and was utterly blown away (no pun intended). This was one of the most shamefully over-looked films of last year, along with Tarsem Singh's The Fall and the Tom Hanks-produced City of Ember. This is a brilliant piece of cinema, a poignant piece of storytelling, and has a hell of a lot of twists (and some brilliant one-liners—McDonagh is a consummate master of the English language). This film occupies my top five favourite films, and that's including To Kill a Mockingbird and Kill Bill.
@xDark_horizonx@xanga - Yeah, I'm surprised how many people have actually seen it and really liked it considering its limited release.
omg i loved In Bruges.
must see.
What a kick-ass movie!!!
After some resistance, I watched it, and ended up enjoying it.
I absolutely love this movie! The dark humor! The bloody shoot-outs! The acting! The fact that I sometimes quote it and no one ever gets it! Fantastic.
Unexpectedly awesome movie.
The only flick I've seen in which Colin Farrell doesn't annoy and/or bore the crap out of me.
However, I would in no way call this movie "lost".
